You ever get that feeling things happen for a reason sometimes? Dunno if i ever went into the rusty section of the forum before but when your thread was in the recent list it caught my eye for some reason. I know what it is. 1st let me back up and say... DAMN SON! That's some work to be proud of. OK, back to the supernatural stuff of what drew me in here. I have tried on several occasions to get a weathered look on wood. In my head it looks EXACTLY like yours. But I can't get it done. For one thing, I can't look at something and say, "Oh well that's this color and that color mixed with a bit of this..." Can you , when you have time, put up and short SBS of how you got that look... that perfectly worn, soothing gray look of that wood? Now the trick is remembering I've been here and asked that to come back and see

Hi guys, just blown away by your great comments! Or maybe it's the glue fuuuumes...
Thanks guys!! Marc I'm glad you like the old wood, I was pretty happy with it too and have tried to get this look before unsuccessfully. I will post a SBS, It might be a few days though, I hope that's okay.
Hi Bruce, no plans for a base at this stage.
Cheers JT

How did you do the center hubs on the rims? Did you just melt the ends?
Thanks in advance,
-Steven

Hey JT, Have been following along quietly (yeah, I know. Me. Quietly. Who'da thunk it?) and I gotta echo the comments of the other guys. You sir, are world class! Simply a stunning build, and you have shown us all that you definitely don't need a Tamigawa uber-kit to be able to produce breathtaking results! Stunning work cobber!! Cheers, Sam

Thanks again gents, very much appreciated! Hi Sam, I do like a nice new uber kit, but this one was good enough to be enjoyable!
Hi Steven, do you mean where the axle stubs have slots in the ends? Sorry I didn't mention that before, I filled them with blocks of styrene, then cleaned up the cracks with some Mr Surfacer 500. Any putty would probably do.
Cheers JT

Hi Stratox
Sorry about my late reply, and also - there's not much to see underneath. I didn't weather it at all, it's just painted brown. I guess I'm used to building tanks with not much going on under there. But I will take a photo shortly, so I'll be back soon.
Cheers JT
