Paul: the T-64 was not related to the T-72 afaik. I think they were built in the Ukraine and eventually evolved into the T-80 on to the kit now with %100 more primer on it. I use heavily thinned Tamiya flat black, so It gets into all the nooks and crannies without filling them up. but it leaves a dusty look to the paint. that will go away with the next few coats. and of course the best way to find flaws in your build is to take pictures of it, I still have to fix a few things before final paint.

somewhere in a stash of books, I have a bunch of stuff on the T64 and it's evolution. It was actually the first gas turbine powered tank (some used diesels as well) that went into production. The turbine powered tanks actually were slightly different. They had external fuel storage and maybe greater internal as well. Seems like there was two or three different turrets used on them as well. Gotta hunt that book up~! gary

Nice progress on the green, it may be your monitor as well vs. your camera, always tough to get a true representation when working with different digital displays. From here it looks just fine!

thanks everyone Bill: I was originally using a blue backdrop which made the tank look grey. switching to white was the way to go.
Dicky: I think the T64 kit has too many fiddly P.E. bits to be the best, and the T-62 family is pretty awesome. that it is still an awesome kit though.
I'm not going to have much time to work on it for a few days, hopefully I will get some time later in the week.
cheers Dylan

Nice technique, I've never tried it. I tend to go with the usual multi stage green tones. The result is really nice Will it be a "clean" one or a dirty and worn tank?

a small update, unfortunately I havent had much time to do anything in the last few weeks. its shiny and has some decals on it the Trumpeter workable tracks are really nice. I'm not sure I am doing them justice. Luigi, I am not going to make it too dirty. just a wash and some dust/dirt on the lower parts

Tracks look pretty good. No wonder Dicky loves Trumpy so much! I know little about Russian armors... what is that rod thing behind the turret? Snorkel?

Nice progress, the tracks look terrific.
Andy, yes it's the snorkel used when the tank waded rivers. As Nazis soon found out, there are a lot of rivers to cross in Russia and Ukraine, so russians soon developed both amphibious AFVs and tanks with snorkels.
And, to the ones who are asking, T-64 evolved into T-80. T-62 was the predecessor of T-72. Both designs were used to develop T-90. However the engine of the T-64 was abandoned due to the high flammability of the fuel.
