Thanks guys and thanks for the help! Kinda new at weathering and don't want to ruin the model. Much appreciated!

Oh Bruce my man, the deck plating looks A! !W! !E! !S! !O! !M! !E
Andy's right on the layering of the streakings, you can still make it as subtle as you please by gently dabbing white spirit into the rust effects.

I am loving it... the deck floor do look very realistic. I do remember how it was on an old ship not long time ago...

Thanks fellas. Not going to do the Normandy version. Instead am doing the Iwo Jima version. Here she is in primer and to give it some scale.
what if I told you that I have an older fellow in my VFW post that piloted one of them at Iwo Jima? He's getting a little frail these days but still gets out when the weather is nice. gary

Alfred says Cool Beans too:) Notice any difference between Alfred Hitchcock and
KilRoy?? Hmmmmmmmmmm?
I've got to assume your now doing a PTO diorama. The Kilroy sign was kind of an in house joke over there over there during WWII. Folks would write "Kilroy was here" all over the place, and even goes deeper than that! When the Marines hit the beach at either Saipan or Peleu (sp), there was a sign posted on the beach with "Kilroy was here written on it!" Once again the Navy got one over the Jarheads! My uncle Cliff was one of the first to pass that sign, and he was mad about till he finally died gary

That's pretty cool Gary. Another tough job to do by our Brothers in Blue. You can still buy that metal sign on Ebay "KilRoy was here" was all over the globe during the war. It's an interesting read if anyone is interested. His legend lives on! He was the Big Cheese of Rivet Counters (As you have probably seen on many forums, there always seems to be at least one.) I'll probably use the LCM occasionally to highlight both PTO and ETO builds. It's a great center piece and shows what it took to get men and equipment to areas needed.

I've almost bought that kit a couple times in the past, but the one I really want is the smaller one used to cross the Rhine at Remagen. That was an LCVP. And while in the "things that float" territory, how about a nice 1/ 144th scale four stack destroyer and a Destroyer Escort? 1/72 would be a little big, and with two subs in 1/72 already I wouldn't have a clue where to put them! gary
