That is way cool Bill, looked at that kit a few times but never bought it. It's a decent little kit that includes figures (which I didn't attempt) and 2 Goliaths. Which is a good thing as I needed parts from both to end up with a single complete one built in the end due to not paying close enough attention when removing some of the track lengths and accidentally removing some connecting tabs thinking they were just part of the sprue connections...

Funny, if I didn't know better I'd say it's a tracked wheel chock for the Tiger! Cheers, Tobi

Conor, they do look quite the pair don't they? Andy, I think it's impossible NOT to eat too much on Thanksgiving. I recall a news story that the average person consumes something like 3,000 calories in their Thanksgiving meal...I'm pretty sure that was the case for me easily! The 'Goliath' certainly has an ironic name don't you think? Phil, pretty advanced for its time but definitely called for nerves of steel from the engineer/operator! Makes for a nice little book-end for the Tiger and helped me fill some idle time in the process. Tony, have to get your beauty rest to keep the factory humming! Can't waste any opportunities this time of year. Tobi, you're not far off! The Goliath is about as wide as a single Tiger track link.

nice work on the Goliath, would look good displayed with the finished tigger Thanks Pete! The two aren't meant to go together, the Goliath was just a little 'time filler'. Although ironically enough the box art for the Goliath kit does show a knocked-out Tiger in the background, so the Dragon folks must be trying some subliminal suggestion perhaps?

I just thought it would make a good dio with the large and the small of German tracked vehicles if that makes sense. I like the contrast between the two. Must be the box art as I remember it! dam those subliminal messages on model box pictures!

Pete, I remember how wildly people used to speculate about whether or not there was a 'box art effect' in terms of what types of vehicles or kits Dragon might release next. Used to cause quite the uproar depending...I think at one point they were deliberately using it as a sort of 'misinformation' campaign to keep their competitors off-balance!
Luigi, that's true! Such a cute little thing but destined to only blow itself up when used.

I had the Borgward IV Ausf A kit a while back but traded it away for something...I don't recall what now. It's Dragon's kit #6101, although Cyberhobby also put out a White Box kit #6510 with the Ausf B Borgward paired up with a Pz III J Control Tank. You would have a lot easier time getting your hands on the #6101 via e-bay or similar though I'd bet! Revell Germany also put out a Borgward A as kit #03041 as an alternative...no idea how easy it would be to get it by comparison though.

Weathering process is under way with the Tiger, the first step being the application of an overall wash of MM enamel Raw Umber. This was followed by a dot filter process using MM enamel Flat White, Raw Sienna, and Panzer Dunkelgelb. Some additional blending and fading was added by dry-brushing the 50/50 base coat mix using a wide square-tip brush. Then a pin wash using MM enamel Burnt Umber to bring out more of the details. After touching up the pin wash a bit, everything was sealed in with a dull coat using MM Lusterless Flat in the spray can. The remaining clear parts were detailed and added for the turret and hull crew periscopes. Next up will be working on the pigment weathering for the tracks and hull.

Leon, thanks for the comments as always! The tracks will be fun to work with given their size. Andy, it's always ironic how something called a 'wash' can make something so dirty. T, winter arrives here later than elsewhere in the country...we only just had temperatures drop below freezing at night last week so that's usually the 'signal' for the trees to let go. We have a very large elm tree in the front yard and every year it's a waiting game between it and I over when the leaf clearing has to be done. Anthony, thanks as well! Gary, will do my best to keep this one rolling along! The Goliath is such a cute little bugger isn't it?

Those washes worked perfectly, Bill. They really toned down and tied together the paint scheme.
Bought that same Goliath kit myself some time back. I started working on one of them but shelved it until I had the time to scratch up one of the little transport carriers they had. They're so simple I'm surprised Dragon didn't include one or two with the kit.
