Wouts, I bet Rinaldi gets more credit and deservedly so! Not too sure about that . I know of your models a lot longer than I heard about Mike. Found yesterday one of the first modelling mags I ever bought (Scale Military Modeller International,) dating November 2008. One of your models featured in it(your Flak Möbelwagen). I generally don't like this mag since articles are too short and photos and even models sometimes are painstakingly bad (personal opinion). But yours really popped out (same goes for some others of yours which I found in those mags like the oddball Tiger). So technically speaking you are a bigger influence since I read your articles even before I started the hobby Cheers

More progress in the hull details in this session. First up was the front Bosch headlight and platform. The kit part doesn't accommodate the addition of zim, so the little tab on the back needed to be notched at the top for it to sit properly. The kit-supplied pre-bent steel wire for its conduit falls into the same trap, so I replaced it with 0.5mm solder bent to shape and installed with CA gel. Then it was time to work on the tools. I used the kit-supplied 'clean' tools for the most part, the only one that wasn't usable was the pry bar, TA2. That's because this is a generic tool set sprue and the pry bar there is a much shorter bar than the one used on the Tiger. Griffon PE clamps were used in place of the kit clamps because I find them easier to work with. For those tools with molded-on tool clamps, I removed their thick handles and replaced them with Griffon handles. The kit-supplied brass tube antenna holder was attached with CA gel to round things out. The tools that attach to the rear hull were also dealt with, receiving Griffon PE handle replacements. The jack is a multi-part assembly and beautifully detailed but the handle has to be placed just so to line-up properly with the mount hole in the rear. I also cleaned up the large tow cables and prepped the cleaning rods. The rods had their solid ends drilled out with a #76 finger drill to create the 'female' ends where appropriate. Next up will begin work on the turret.

Thanks Leon! Tony, I know, the nerve! Must not have been raised right or somethin'! I had high hopes for today to get started on the turret but working with the tools took more time than I anticipated as everything has to fit just so on that turret roof or there's hell to pay. Next time though! Carl, thank you kindly sir!

whehet, the Sunday evening update, was checking for updates all night long, but when I went to sleep, still nothing. The 6 hour difference worked against me Nice update mate. Nice to see you being able to tackle the Griffon model clamps. Although simplified, I couldn't get them to bend and look properly. It's been ages since I worked with them, so it might have something to do with my abilities. Anywhoo, looking forward to see the turret appear Cheers

Good morning Bill, The PE work you've done is quite well executed. It looks to me that the side fenders do not line up nicely with each other. A very nice touch indeed. The rest of the PE is equally well done. I certainly like the drilled out barrel cleaning rods....it may not seem like a big deal but, it's one of those details that when you see it, it makes all the difference. Dave

Thanks Conor, Keith, Elco, and Pete, much appreciated! Always good to get positive feedback to keep the mojo stoked. BJ, you just might get your wish sooner than usual! Luigi, invest in a good mouth guard, wouldn't want you to damage any teeth from post viewing! Seriously though, that's high praise indeed, don't know if I deserve the 'master' designation but am glad to hear the build is an inspiration. Wouts, sorry about the time-zone lag, but at least you get a dose fresh on Monday mornings instead! The key with the Griffon clamps I've found is to give them a little curve before you install them in place vs. leaving them standing vertical and then trying to bend them over to close the clamp. I do this with the points of some fine tweezers and it makes a huge difference. Might give that a shot the next time around. Dave, you've picked up on a little subtle variation that the individual fender panels allows for vs. the 'factory new' straight line-up that the single piece plastic option produces. It's one of the reasons I chose the brass option as well as being able to leave one off to show the zim down the full hull side. I'm a fan of the little details too, things like those barrel ends add just a little more realism to the finish. Glad you like it!
