Scratched seats both look better than Trumpy's effort. One on the right has it for me

Good morning Joe, So I'm getting caught up on some old builds and having a gander at some new ones. Then, I come across this one. I see the letters, "OOB". So, I am reading along and, all of the sudden, there's no more painted side panels but, instead, bare naked styrene. I backed it up a couple of times to make sure that I didn't inadvertently hit a tab or something....Nope! He went and did it. He's getting a styrene fix. That is some very nice work you've done in the office. Seeing your seat (the one for the aircraft!) and your question gave me a good reason to rummage the reference materials.....Go with #3. IMHO, that is the best one! Staying tuned. Dave

t i agree. too much going on, i cannot possibly keep up.
dave you are right. i said early on i was leaning towards oob. then, well, not sure where it went off track but it did.

-Hello, my name is Dave. I am here because I suffer from AMS. My wife says it's not that I won't build a kit OOB but, that I lack the capacity to build OOB. - Hello Dave. Thank you for sharing Dave. Joe, That's how my AMS therapy sessions generally start. After 8+ years, I am told I am making progress. . It kinda creeps up on you and, before you know it, you are making those last minute trip (right before the LHS closes for the day) to get more styrene....otherwise the build will be idled for the night/weekend. Nothing sadder than a fellow modeler going through acute AMS withdrawal. Dave

Thank you for the reference site Joe. It just so happens there is an F4F-3 lurking in my stash as well as a -4. That site is going to come in handy. Dave

yep you read it right. this post is dedicated to a bare naked pit.... cockpit that is. this is what i am going with. i wanted to get some pics prior to starting the painting. if you wish you can check earlier in the thread to see what the kit parts looked like. just to rehash. using a for sale sign, .010 styrene sheet, rod, tube, square, and stretched sprue i have fumbled this together. so.............. there she is. the work is layed bare. be blunt folks. let me know. comments, critiques, and criticisms are encouraged. joe

I for one think you are doing a fantastic job, Joe. Some great work with the white stuff, and it is head and shoulders above the kit in quality and detail my friend!! Keep up the great work, I look forward to the next post. Oh, and the seat on the right.... Cheers, Sam

nice work on the cockpit thus far Joe. Just to add to your initial comments I have only done one Aircraft since returning to the hobby, a Tamiya 1/48 scale F4U-1A and because of my inexperience try and buy kits that have had good reviews and least amount of issues.I am sure you will tackle this one with great patience.
Dave.

ok i am ready to move on. the first two steps in the instructions were focused on the pit. after the initial construction with the kit parts i went off track a little and scratched much of it. finished that up today. so here she is. things of note. the colors are bronz green (vallejo), interior green (model master), flat red and black (testors). i punched out a disk from thicker clear plastic from a tool set case. although you cant see it i painted white behind the film of the instrument panel and it actually looks decent. comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. joe
