Thnx folks, I'm glad you like it! I don't wanna put this baby just on a base so I was thinking about a scene and came up with the following idea. Will put her somewhere in North Africa with some debris from a crashed Savoia Marchetti SM.79. Just debris, not a complete burned out Savoia. Could buy 76827348 meters of Evergreen rod and start scratching but there are limits to my patience. So I dicide to 3D model this stuff and 3D print it afterwards. Started with drawing 3D lines in 3Ds studio max and *color code them. Which are ribs, rods, strips etc... Will do some rigging afterwards with fishing line. Cheers, Marcel.

Interesting idea, what 3d print provider will you use?

Thanks a lot, I'm thinking of using them also for a little project I'm developing in blender.

Thnx folks. I've made some progress. The vertical piece is done and passed the Shapeway technical submission. The rudder on the right is about 6 centimeters tall. Next finishing the horizontal part. Bye, Marcel.

Yep, it's amazing cheap. Voila, besides some *details I consider this airframe done. *Detailing is such a trap when cgi modeling you can go on and on. Will print this stuff in 7 separate parts. But... were to split those parts? Especially the area were the vertical & horizontal part crosses is tricky. So I've to do some constructing engineering first... oh joy. To be continued... Marcel.

The 3d job is perfect. Will you use the printed specimen as a master or will you use the original?

That's some impressive 3-D modelling Marcel! My suggestion for the 7 parts would be to split the box frame of the empennage into two parts that join down the middle, print the vertical stabilizer as one part, the horizontal stabilizers as 2 separate parts, with maybe separate parts for the rudder and/or the elevators...but that comes to 8 parts and not 7!

Thnx folks. No need to have a physical master, the 3D model is the master. So I'm gonna use the original. Finished the 3D build and uploaded it in 7 parts to Shapeways. Finger crossed now.... The parts should be ready around november 20... Pooh, I'm quite tired of 3D modeling right now. Playing with (physical ) glue & paint is more fun in my opinion. But this could change when I receive the parts. To be continued... Marcel.

"Meanwhile somewhere in Holland the paintjob on the Sd Kfz 223 was finished, *almost...." And I'm glad... That was one of my most intensive paintjobs ever. *When a took a closer look at the pics I saw some "missed" spots but will chip those later. More pics overhere. And now just waiting for the 3D printed airframe parts. Bye, Marcel.
