Bill , I'll let it be as is for know then . It'll have to be touched up after more handling between now and completion anyway . By that time I should have a feel for the final look I want .

Mud looks pretty good already... they may disappear gradually if you fondle the HT often.

I couldn't get the front set of wheels on the running gear to stay in contact with the tracks unless I over tightened the tracks by adjusting the rear idler angle and then the top run of the tracks wasn't touching the wheels as it should . So.....it was down to a basic and simple method of solving the problem . I didn't want to try gluing the tracks to the wheels because with all of the dirt on the surfaces it probably wouldn't stay attached very well . What I did was wire the tracks into contact with the wheels . Sounds simple but I was about ready to take the tracks off and re-do things in the suspension .That would of been a mess and probably resulted in some damage . Cant see the wires hardly and even then its gotta be flipped over . This should be the last flippin floppin . Hey Tony I took your advice and put some dirt on the exhaust my friend .

Much better Carl you added enough to blend in but you can still admire your rust job. Back to the muddy tires. Just remember the sidewalls flex much more than the rest of the casing so mud will flake off more there but the mud stain will remain. Lookin Good Tony lee

Quality fix on the wheels and tracks and the dried mud looking good. Maybe a dusting of another slight colour variation of 'mud' would add to the overall look but often less turns out to be so much more As per me earlier question. I tried painting rubber tyres before and they started to crack pretty quick but your fix will make that a lot less likely I was hoping to find an aftermarket set for the DB10 but not stumbled on anything yet ! If I have to paint them I might try a plastic primer which hopefully will have more 'flexible' properties Los

Thanks Leon . Tony , ok , good on the exhaust then . About the mud on the tires . I agree with you . I got out of the idea that this was dried mud and would be flaking off as it dried out . Thanks my friend for the input .

had to go back and take another look at the transformation of the engine. i cant believe how good that looks. then i looked at the latest and wow. my eyes popped and my jaw hit the desk. truly a work of a master. when i get to the engine of the hawk i am working on i hope to get a look that is a fraction as good as yours.

If I have to paint them I might try a plastic primer which hopefully will have more 'flexible' properties Los Los , I was thinking the same thing on the color variation on the mud . I want to do the wheels in a few shades of dirt , mostly darker shades . Right now the mud looks too light in color . I feel that the colors should be darker the lower on the vehicle they are . Gives the model a good weighty look . I hear you on the flaking problem . I don't know if your using Tamiya XF-1 flat black or not but that's what I used and it worked well . A thin coat does well . I scrubed on these with a stiff brush to get the mud on and off and the XF-1 held help and didn't flake or peel .I held a plastic cap of the correct diameter over the wheel while I sprayed the XF-1 . I wasn't too worried about getting some overspray on the wheels since I figured the mud would be covering up the wheel rims any how . Thanks for suggestion my friend .

That's good to hear. Not sure it was Tamiya I used last time ? Think it was Vallejo
Bring up some refs of muddy undercarriages on the net and you will get a good feel for where the mud stays wet and where it dries out quicker. That kind of subtle variation is hard to replicate logically without picture refs

I can just see Carl creating his own line of weathering products. The first one will be called 'Dirt' and the second will be called 'Fortified Dirt with Cat Dumplings'. They'll sell like hotcakes I think.

Andy , no droppy . I noticed that the front bumper and firewall were not aligned with the front axles . Its been bugging me for a couple of days since I noticed it . Here you can see the tweak between the gun platform and the forward part of the frame rails . Gotta tweak something .
