lol Thanks guys fer lookin' and glad yer enjoyin' the builds so far....the 'Deathquacks' DUKW is merely 'resting' he will be back! Mac - my last (and only) WW2 build was the Cutaway Matilda...what? 3 years ago....regular as clockwork me!

Right.....standby, are yer sitting comfortably - this is a whopper? Havin' inadvertently woken up far earlier than planned and due to Debs bein' on earlies too..I found myself at the bench at the crack of a sparrow's f*rt...... Right it was cab time....the kit included a floor plate which I can only assume is from the T28 with which this kit obviously shares a lot of sprues....having got no references whatsoever for this compartment I used the floor plate to govern the shape and some T34 refs to provide some detail inspiration.....VERY little of this will be really visible thru the hatches but it WILL be visible so that dictated the level of detail here...enough waffle here be pictures... I started by adding the first fixed portions of the bulkheads - height determined by hull dimensions obviously.... I made up the rear bulkhead added a hatch coaming and some generic lumps and framing detail... I added Olav for positioning and made the requisite measurements to determine the relative locations of components: Relatively large hatches aid visibility but will mean more scratching although the fwd hatch has a surround.... Seat was next on the list.....made up the basics using 2mm, 1mm sheet and 0.2mm strip..... I made up the compressed gas bottles that sit forward of 'drives' - eventually this was reduced to one bottle due to limited space - I actually suspect the bottles were too large...... Made up some pedals T34 stylee... Olav in position: I then made up the steering levers and linkages again, based on existing Russian refs - wildily inaccurate I daresay but they'll look ok when painted..... I then made up the gauge panels using 1mm sheet and brass ring bezels (available from jewellry makers suppliers): And larger ones for the LH side bulkhead.... So, that's that - we have achieved 'cabbage'....that don't sound right, but hey, yer know what I mean Afore yer knew it we had ............... grey! Even Olav got it..... Andy - we must have caught up by now, yeah? AC Welcome

Yup! Dicky is correct about two things... 1. Duck will be back eventually... 2. Chally II has the busiest rear ever!!! Worked on it more last night and it is not even completed. DAMN! No wonder brits are into butt while Americans are into hooters I have noticed that just now. Update on the rear... added rear lights. Masking tape applied before guards glued so it will make easier for me to paint them at end. Voyager set had replacement for the bar... it didn't look good. Supporting bars were not thick enough I knew I'd break 'em off because of its location so I bypassed that PE part. I have to remember PE is not always the best solution like this. Kit part looked just great to me and it is STRONG!

Dan - I'm not even convinced there were any fundamental differences between Soviet and Hungarian tank crews were there? But anyway, the MA figs are usual standard fare and will grace any 'Eastern Bloc' tankie thing I reckon

Looks like you had a good day Boys. Fantastic progress. Andy, butts or hooters, make no difference to me. In most cases, they're all good. Dicky, Cabbage? Isn't that what they make sauerkraut out of? Nice scratchin'

Nice progress both of you! Now we know how to get Andy to finish a build...death threats from Nemo! I think he's just found a new source of potential revenue in the future...

Guys- Great day for bench while recovering from relapsed cold... I swear I don't remember spending so much time working on an arse! Molded clasps on the fuel drum looked terrible... PE to rescue but being Voyager it was over engineered which I admit I was disappointed. Remind me not to buy another set from Voyager... I had to do short cuts just to make it work... did my best to remove the molded straps and clasps. One quick question... instructions want me to put the tracks on before I attach the upper and lower hull. I haven't worked on rubber tracks for decades... can I use Tamiya cement as shown in the picture? Instructions said to use plastic cement. Tomorrow I hope to finish the other fuel drum... that would be the last part to deal with on Dicky's rear!

Andy on the track issue your glue will be fine and you do not need to use the whole length of track I normally stick the track from 1st return roller with ca then wrap the tracks round to the return roller in front of the drive sprocket the area of missing track will be covered by the skirting hope this helps ya well done on the fuel drum upgrade Dan B

Dick, Andy,
Really nice progress on both builds so far. The extra work you two put in is always worth the effort.
Looking forward to some more.
Best Regards
Keith.
