Thanks guys, for your comment. Another update now. I finally managed to get the wheels and tracks in place, that was a real pain in the *@ . Also detailed the back plate. Now I have to paint the inside and close the hull before I can continue building Eddy

I have this same kit in the stash so I'm curious about the suspension/tracks issue, was it just the nature of fitting them or did you run into a specific problem?

That cross on the back was on every photo I could find, but I don't know what it was. The trouble with the running gear was that there are small mudguards above every wheel attached between the wheel supports, they are provided in the kit as photo etched parts, but the metal of it is quit thick and there are no lines engraved so for the right size it was to difficult, I trimmed the sides of the parts down until they fitted between the supports, then filled the gaps with milliput. the second issue were the small return rollers, there supports are almost 1mm to short so the tracks didn't go between the wheel and the hull and they weren't aligned with the rest. I made small discs with punch and die from almost 1mm thick and drilled them out so I could line them up with the other wheels. The tracks are provided in segments and almost 25 separate links per side, they go together very well, but the tracks were a bit to short, not much but just enough to stick together, so I removed the idler wheel, closed the tracks firmly an attached the idler again so that the track fitted firmly round it. I don't know if anybody else had the same problems or perhaps I did something wrong Today I started to paint the inside and used the hairspray technique for the initial weathering. Thanks for looking Eddy

The 'cross' looks like it's a mount for the convoy lights since there aren't any other lights visible anywhere else on the vehicles. That's my best guess anyway. Appreciate the info on the suspension and tracks, will remember that when it comes time to build mine. Nice start to the interior!

Hi there Eddy,
Nice to see this kit here. You're doing a great job on the interior.
I haven't read the whole topic (sorry ...) but I want to ask you if you know about the doors on the side of the cabin. According to a friend of mine who is building the same kit the doors are placed wrong. They should not be opposite of each other, one should be a bit more to the front than the other. Sorry, can't really put a finger on it: I'm not building it and English is not my native language, but if you want to I can ask him where he got that info.
Nevertheless, I'm gonna follow this topic!
greetings, Richard.

Eddy, As always you are doing an awesome job. What technique did you use for the color variation on the interior? I find it very effective and I was wondering if it was airbrushed or washed on. Thanks.

The color variation is faded out oil paint, undiluted oil paint in the corners and with a dry brush fading out in one direction until you are content with the result. I almost finished the inside of the lower hull and the motor + transmission Eddy

Thank you for the info Eddy. Superb update as usual. If I may ask again: How do you acheive this distressed metalic finish? It is very effective and I have failed numerous time trying to get there.
Thanks

The metal look is the same as my other weathering method, a good base color and oils. The inside and the ammo locker are finished Eddy

Now the built is ready, just the main components must come together after painting the interiors. Many details are added out of the scrap box, the jack is detailed by drilling out the holder of the shaft and adding some PE. the casting letters and numbers are Archer decals. Thanks for following this Eddy
