Gag - what do you do in "real" life? Some sort of engineer or something? Or is this just innate talent and imagination that lets you do all this (versus years and years of expensive education)? Thanks for the good vibes friends Dupes I trained as a toolmaker but now i program, setup, and run a CNC milling machine. Gag Yeah, I figured there had to be some badass training in there somewhere. Toolmaker...that's "somewhat" applicable to scratchbuilding!

Good Evening Chumlies, Thanks for all the support, great to have you along for the ride. Gunna make this fast because tonight I'm not drunk enough ;D and i want to be, Sooooooooo, 8 hours of bench time today and a few evenings during the week and here's what we got so far, Prep'd some pieces to hold the engine vanes Added some tube to add interest More small part prep, Was given two of these by my buddy G at work, Wanted them mainly for the switch, But after I had dismantled them I found that this.... Fit perfectly in here, Glued some clear domes over the holes in the back Then i moved on to the afterburner injectors which I cut to length, Drilled a small hole for the actuator rods for the vector mechanism, Cut the bits for the actuator assemblies, Made the main drive unit, Used ship turrets with a hole drilled in them and some wire for the control unit Then everything was dry fit, later it will be cut to length and installed, Wrapped one of the main body tubes to overlap a join, Slotted and trimmed the vane supports and cut some more details, These were then assembled, This is the outer profile so far, a little different, a bit shorter than before because I think this is going to be about 1/12th scale so it would of been to large relative to the pilot, I don't want the ship to be to big, I want it at least a little relatable to current Formula 1 cars, scale wise That's about it so far, I've ordered some more rod and other assorted styrene, my lights for the engines and some Alclad chrome and Magnesium paints which should arrive this week, I hope. Well, I'm going to get a refill now and watch the first episode of the new season of Face Off. Stay tuned my friends and thanks for stopping by, Take care, Gagsterman

Oh, nice, a new season of Face Off has started What stuns me more and leaves me more in awe of your work is your ability to "see" the project as a whole even building small parts... Can't wait to see more

I've said "WOW" so many times in response to your updates I feel like it is silly to say it again, but I don't know how else to say it, so... WOW!!!

Evening my friends, Thank you so much for the kind words, it really means a lot to me to have my friends along for the ride. Well, this week I had some good news and some bad news Good news is that after two years of working only four days a week we are now back on five days Bad news is that I have lost my Friday modelling day, 8 hours of solid bench time But at least I have a job, which in this area at the moment is a very good thing. Enough waffel, mmmmmmm waffels, on with the update, Lots of head scratching and thinking, not so much build progress, this really is one piece after another, my lights still haven't arrived yet so it is a bit of a hold up as far as the engines are concerned but anyhoo's your daddy, Used these MotoGP front disc brakes for more internal details that you won't be able to see, obviously, Decided i didn't like the baby bottle caps because they hid to much of the insides and looked to out of scale, had a quick rethink and came up with this. 'T' shaped styrene with a taper on one end Cleaned up the bottom of the bottles that I cut off and found two wochesteshire sauce pouring spouts Added the 'T' stock Cut and shaped six thruster vanes and noched them to take the ring, Moved on to the internal frame structure, cut two holes in 3.5mm sheet styrene, the distance between the centers has since changed, plus iI broke my Olfa hole cutter in the process so i had to use the dremel instead, not as accurate but way more fun. Then I had a mega find, this is one of those desk top air freshener thingy's, where you insert a bottle of cented oil and it heats up and stinks the room out. Well, after I had cut out all the innards I thought the outer body shape makes a perfect cockpit saftey module Made a back for it Punched holes for support rods in the internal structure sheets and the back plate Very very very basic assembly, this is when I decided that the engines were too far apart, Re-thought the side intakes and did a bit of sanding This is the start of the underside structure, a ship hull and a tank hull, perfect Card board inserts to help me visualize the profile and overall lay out so far That's all for now Until next time my friends Stay tuned and Take care Gagsterman McGee

Now the question that comes to my mind is how the heck are you going to sort the canopy out for the cockpit? Always watching.

Evenin All, Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments guys, appreciated muchly Just a quick update this evening on the side pod progress, Started by gluing 1.5mm styrene sheet to the three flat sides of the modified round side intakes First the back Then the bottom with a pre-shaped radius Then the top, preshaped piece, it's just a fraction larger than the bottom, here you can see it next to the main body mock up Now I have these sidepod intakes in position, I can more accurately position the ships hull which will become part of the underside 'Tea tray assembly' that you see on modern F1 cars This top view (with thinners bottle for scale, shows the overall length of the ship, about 22". To keep it relative to a modern car, I think it's going to be 1/12th scale. I then started cleaning up the outside of the intakes, blending everything together, Next i will fill these corners to make a smoother transition for the insides Here's another angle of the whole engine assembly I may also add some internal details on the intakes, I'm not sure yet, I will see what it all looks like after the corners are blended in. That's all for now, stay tuned my friends Take care Gaggles McGee

Helloooooooo Good evening and Welcome, Very nice to see the usual suspects along for the ride, Dicky, you will be pleased to know its raining tonight, it's still 21c, its dark, but it is raining Just visit already will you, sheesh Anyhooooooo's your daddy Quick one tonight, So, hold on tight for a fast ride, The louder you scream the faster we go ;D Filled a few ugly bits on the intakes Traced my nose pattern, Expanded it a bit Cut out three Cut out braces Glued them on one of the nose profiles following the under side radius Glued a piece of 1.5mm styrene on to the underside After it had dryed I removed the tape and cut two tapered spacers Cut and glued these on both sides Attached two other two sides Fixed the nose section with two pieces of rectangle, not sure why but it seemed like a good idea All the clamps removed Very rough sanded A quick "Offer up" as my Grandfather would of said, Got out the jig saw support and roughly cut out the internal supports Very rough assembly, back Front Well thats about the size of it, More bench action on Sunday Stay tuned friends Gag

Great work and really informative.
Filed away your way of doing the internal formers on the nose, I would have tried to cut formers to close to final shape and adjusted with some sanding .
......... Your way of doing in 2 pieces is much better and an obvious route now that you have pointed me in the right direction...... Thanks
