While rummaging through my stash I came across this little beauty. I have built very few soft skinned vehicles and this was a great find I could not pass up. I did not have a lot of on-hand reference on this vehicle so I did a bit of internet research to get a better feel for what a real one would look like. I decided to go pretty much for an out of the box build and focus on various finishing and weathering options. I broke the construction of kit into three sub-assemblies: the body, the suspension (plus), and the interior. I thought this was the easiest way (and most logical) since the interior would have been virtually impossible to access were the vehicle completed according to the instructions. More to follow!!

The way to do it...pick a project and use it to focus on one or two things. Neat little bug...count me in!

Now the fun begins! Are you going for the box-art camo pattern or something different?

Thanks for looking in. I got a couple of things that I want to try; first a camo pattern (not necessarily exactly like the box - but similar) and other effects (not sure yet).

More updates: Painted the interior with Model Color Dunkelgelb (IMHO they make a pretty nice tone for this color) however, I still prefer good ol' Tamiya as far as airbrushing goes. I wanted to experiment with the AK filter "Brown for Dark Yellow Vehicles" at this stage. Painted the seats with Vallejo Acrylics: Interior Wash with AK's Streaking Grime and a dusting of European Dust to blend everything together: Finally installed and painted the steering shift levers and pedals using Vallejo Acrylics Black:

Great little kit (I have another in my stash). I wanted to go for the "late war, not time for proper maintenance" look.

While I decide how to proceed with the finishing I went ahead and did a little work on the tires. Painted the tires with Tamiya German Gray, the rims were painted with the base color, an AK wash was applied. Weathering is next.

I know the feeling. Rationalization: well. as kits go this one was not very expensive..... (this is the one I typically use).

Well, frankly I was not convinced with the results so far and decided to start over on the paint and finish. For one, the Dunkelgelb base color ended being a little too flat and lacked interest. I was mostly alright with the camo scheme. But unsure if I wanted to go with a “rusty” and more derelict looking vehicle. I try to experiment and try new things in all my builds and having never used Model Air paints this, all of a sudden, seemed like a good opportunity for it particularly, since I opportunely found a bottle of their Dark Yellow “hidden” within my stash of painting supplies. I also decided to try a bit of modulation – without getting too carried away with it. I did have a little trouble with the consistency of the paint for airbrushing. I mixed with water 50/50. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to best use this paint? Base color: Vallejo Model Air Dark Yellow Modulation: Vallejo Model Air Dark Yellow mixed with Vallejo Model Air White
