Nice to see you going again with the paint job. As a rule Model Air is ready to go out of the bottle and shouldn't need thinning at all

Thanks! That would explain some of the problems I was having. Have used Vallejo's Grey Primer and really like how it sprays.

Thanks Bill! I had a lot of fun laying it on. I wanted to "liven up" the colors a bit so I went ahead with a Filter utilizing SIN industries one for tri-tonal camo.

Well, wasn't happy with how the tires turned out so I repainted them this time with Tamiya Dark Gray. I also weathered them a bit with AK Dust effects, and using Tamiya's X-20 thinner played a little bit with the "dust" trying to create an effect - later comes the pigment!

I also wanted to work a little more on the interior even though I will not be very visible once the windshield and all the windows are installed (but, after all its good practice!)so I washed the inside with artist oils and dabbled the seats with the same in order to add a nit more interest and effects. Using Vallejo Acrylics I highlighted well "worn" areas.

Coming along nicely mel! The interior will give the curious something to peek inside at once you've got it all buttoned up.

Here's a quick update: I went for the "dusty" look - I was happy with the camo, but wanted to try something different (it's all about learning new techniques and skills). I installed the windshield - replaced the one that came with the kit with one made from clear plastic to better replicate the proper scale. Pigments were used to compliment the initial dusting that was done with Tamiya acrylics (flat earth and deck tan). A lot more fine tuning will be required.

Thanks fellows! Really appreciate your comments and feedback. A few updates: 1. Tires - weathered the tires with MIG pigments - I think they came out OK. I installed the tires (not glued yet) just in case. 2. Windshield - installed and weathered a scratch-made one but was not really happy with the way it turned out. I removed it and installed original (took me a while to get it to fit). Next: weather - again! and install windshield wipers. I did install scratch-side windows for the for the drivers and passenger doors, as the clear plastic acetate more closely approximate the scale thickness. In hindsight, I should have installed the windshield glass BEFORE painting the vehicle - poor planning on my part. 3. Spray painted the front tag. I just - I like the realism of real paint (but it can be quite involved with all the masking required). 4. Misc: a few more little parts here and there and this puppy is done. Well, maybe..

It may be the lighting in the photos mel, but I'd add just a touch of pigments to the walls of the tires to blend them in a little bit more to go with the rest of the dust/dirt accumulation in the tread patterns. The bug's looking good!

Thanks! I think you are right, a picture is worth a thousand words - looking at it, I rubbed out a little too much of the pigment - also noticed I need to weathered the freshly painted vehicle "tag."
