Thanks fellas. Plan for primer on the plates & mesh over the weekend ,and if the weather and rugby permit, a base coat. The scheme on 513 is what I'm thinking about as a starting point. P

Thanks chaps - Base coat of sand has gone on -a bit patchy but that'll add to the overall finish ( I hope)

Here's a few T72's after being picked apart. Check out the light olive color. My guess was they had been there for quite sometime, photos from late '07. G

Pictures above (look upwards, lol) T-54/55's, not T-72's First picture is a T-54, vent on turret roof, sharp edge turret, spiderweb wheels, and the distinctive zig zag weld on the front plate Second picture (broken barrel) is a T-55

Nice Paul! Love the turret plates and that bustle-bedspring is a nice touch as well.

Thanks Bill. Just realised that the bade coat should be green so I will revisit that later with VMA Russian green.

Well tonight the ole AB came out of storage and I got me a-sprayin'. Not quite the scheme I'd originally planned but its a reasonable starting place. Here's where I've got to so far. Loads more still to do- filters in particular to tone contrasts down etc. As always ; all comments, suggestions etc., are very graciously welcomed P

jackwagon, Bill, Gary , Luigi -thank you all very much guys. I was very pleasantly surprised with how things have turned out so far. Tonight's job is filters with the aim of blending the main camouflage colours.

As far as the construction was concerned- no real problems that I can remember tbh, outside of the engine grille mesh- horrible nylon stuff. You'd be much better off replacng that with some fine wire mesh.
Dimensionally its a bit off with hull length which causes a slight issue with the final location of the turret in relation to the engine access hatches: but in truth I didn't find out about that until after construction and I can live with the difference. One word of warning though- if you are thinking about using Trumpys indy-links -the pitch on the sprockets is off in comparison so it'll take a bit of work to get them to sit properly. HTH P

Mojo, Andy - thank you both very much. Last night I did manage to get the first filter layer on ( tan for tritonal cam) and its had an immediate effect softening the contrasts . I've learned the hard way leave filters at least 24 hours before adding another so things are going to revert to my more usual speed now! Then plan for the next stage is some sectional filters of differing colours to add additional tonal variations I hope to have an update picky or two later tonight. So TTFN P

Cheers guys, much appreciated. A second filter and some sponge applied chipping now in place. Looks a bit harsh in places but again it will get toned down. Road wheels have had Lifecolor worn-black applied to the rubber elements- not particularly obvious in the pictures- but it is there honest! next job is to get some more colour on the running gear before going back to weathering the hull and turret. As always AC&SVGW P
