When you mention the SAS in WW2 you automatically think western desert, working for long periods of time with the LRDG, and you would be right. this is where it all began. After the desert campaign the SAS began preparing for the invasion of Europe, so hand in hand with the SOE and the partisan groups a plan was hatched to drop experts into enemy territory, combine partisan groups into a combined battle group and harass German forces from the rear whilst invasion forces did thier thing, all this began several months before D-day. It is worth mentioning many of the special forces troopers were of many of the occupied nations, Polish, Belgian, French as well as English so a lot of payback was on its way!!! These special forces were lightly equipped and self contained as much as they could be, then expected to forage or be supplied by the partisan groups, so everything they had was on these jeeps which was home for quite some time until relieved by friendly forces, or as many were captured and executed by German forces. After the desert campaign the SAS lost their Beige beret and were instructed to wear the uniform of the British paras, much to their horror and dismay.......... insulting if you ask me after all they achieved........ but this was corrected at a later date Here are some pictures I found via Google, those familiar with the jeep, well who isnt will see how much was chopped about and off to lighten for air drops. This image is of reactors any ideas how to produce scrim camo net? So My build is one of these, Italeri's oldie with Eduard etch to improve things and a set of Def models Dunlop tyres, I know Dragon have released a version recently, but this is not bad really an with a little TLC should look alright So I think that's me ready for the off, there will be figures, just gotta order some lol

Great to have you along guys! more the merrier So first things first, get rid of the rub.....sorry unused bits And found a few more pikkies This last photo is quite interesting as it shows them during winter, more research needed Right on with plastic All the pikkies show the jeeps fitted with the regular cross country tyre pattern, so that's what I will use, save the Dunlops for another project .... so raiding my Dragon jeeps Work started with the radiator screen Then filing those precision recesses The long range fuel tanks assembled ready for surgery And the chassis cleaned up, an the work so far, the keen eyed amongst you will notice some of the areas reworked on the side panels, foot step removed, as is the rear side reflector, canopy bracket removed and all handle locating holes filled. And then onto building proper That's where I am up too at the moment....... more later

As promised updates With the main prep done it was time to start banging bits together There was a leetle more filler needed, just as well i have a few tubes lol The replacement dash is great And here we are pretty much up to date, lots of stuff added and excess lights drilled out, I have decided to fit two spare wheels, one on the bracket and one over the bonnet/hood, the wheels are all dry fitted for the moment, will fix when painting is done! Still lots to do, the origami which is the front armour plates, tidying etc an then onto guns an stowage, another good afternoon should see the assembly finished

I've just recently acquired the interest in JEEPs after my Campaign over at the Big A last year and after looking more closely THIS one will be one of the best to see get built! Luv the actual pics of it and never really noticed the windscreens on this, so it will really stand out now that I have seen this. I have a 1/6, 1/16 and 1/24 JEEP... why not a 1/35th? I like this one! Jeff

Jeff I must admit to having a growing love of the humble Jeep, this one has been begging me to be built for so long, with the research its making me want to maybe build another of the European Jeeps, they as you can see were all different Also looking at some of the British airborne Jeeps as again the were all unique and mission specific! really interesting stuff.

Cheers chap......
I think the plan of attack will be to paint the vehicle, paint stowage separately and then bring them together with the weathering.
Finding the right stowage may be the hard part
