Hi guys! I am in for my first wingy Yep you read it right I am engaging the after burner on a sweet Mig 29 fulcrum. This will be mostly OTB with minor scratch here and there. It is the revell kit 85-5865 If I am correct it is a 2012 kit...not so old but very simple. Let's see what I can pull outta that small box of plastic intropic par asmodeuss, sur Flickr Go for a new first!

Hahaha, yeah, that kit has indeed been around since 1998 - before the MiG made it's first appearance to the rest of the world at an actual airshow, if I remember correctly.
Doesn't mean it can't be built! Love to see what you do with it.

But this is a cool down build so I'll manage what I can Dicky, Andy, Stop whinnig in the audience! It is an eploratory build, for the pleasure of it. I won't bettray my vows fellers, do not worry Boots, I had to find something to do between two era bricks bracket mount thingamajig on the t72....Clear my mind to stay focus Thanks for dropping in! CeeBee, I think the temp you are looking for is -40. And we got it this year....Be on the watch for other weird events on MSC

This cockpit is somewhat naked and wrong...I am not going overboard with that but I wanted to be a little like the real thing soooo. First, the throttle is very wrong as you can see here, it should be on the port side of the cockpit wall, so I took it off. throtle01 par asmodeuss, sur Flickr The seat was strangely covered with a bumby cushion? Anyhoo Took that off and sculpted the head rest that was not looking like anything. seat01 par asmodeuss, sur Flickr I mock up something that resemble vaguely to pics I founded. Next is straps...got to find better pics od them! seat02 par asmodeuss, sur Flickr ACW

You going all out with this guy? Worst case scenario is that you whip it together and use it as a testbed for trying out paint colors for future Sov aircraft builds. Heck, you could probably do this thing in a day...hmmmm, that gives me an idea.

Thx for the vote of confidence Dupes!! I am aint going all out on the birdie....way too much to do. I am just changing the parts that don't look like anything. For the cockpit it is: minor change on the seat, the HUD, the throttle and the stick maybe. As you can see, it is minor changes, going accurate on this one, I would have to rebuild the entire cockpit...This is afterall my first wingy so it is mainly for pleasure and test for future build as Dupes mentioned. seat03 par asmodeuss, sur Flickr ACW

This kit is a repop of the old (and wildly inaccurate) Monogram kit, originally released in 1988. Among other things it suffers from too large a wing span and an oversized droptank, not to mention the already-dealt-with cockpit. In Monogram's defence, the kit was released at a time when no hard data was available on the MiG-29 and it had to be designed from existing photo's. Given that, I think Mono did a pretty good job, and at the time the kit was the ducks guts. There is (or at least was) a correction set from Verlinden available which dealt with the wing and droptank issues as well as numerous other details in PE and resin(replacement seat for one). If you could find it, it would go a long way to improving the kit. Keep in mind that this detail set is not really any good for any other kit, as apparently the Monogram rendition of the MiG-29 is closer to around 1/50, or so I have heard. I actually have the old Monogram kit and said Verlinden update set, but having just acquired the GWH MiG-29 9-13, it may be some time before I build it!! Having said all that, the Monogram kit seems like it will go together well enough, to the majority of punters it looks like a MiG-29, and if you are not really worried too much about accuracy or loads of intricate detail, I say go for it!! I reckon you are doing a sterling job so far Phil, and I really look forward to what you will do with this old girl..... Cheers, Sam

I've tried the cockpit in the fuselage and the only thing we really see is the seat...So I am good with this part of the build Sam, Thx for the info! I really apreciate it since It is my first set of wings. I won't be buying any AM for this kit for it is a test bench, but, I will try to update it a little. I am not sure if I will get the drop tank on yet...Would it be absurd for me to represent it without? There is a little more work to do in the ``office`` I'll try do scratch the panel behind the ejector seat, the details on the kit is nonsens and this will be too visible not to correct. Ho! And I did myself a tiny throttle so I can have peace of mind! U/D soon!

WTH!!! Its Bill fault... everybody have gone wingy here!!! I better quit before you guys get me!!! Yeah really... 109F's, Stukas, Fulcrums. What the ferk? You can't escape Andy. We'll have you building a jumbo jet soon enough. Phil, don't worry about it being a repop of an old mold. When it's done it will look like a Fulcrum. And if it doesn't, you can always chop off the cockpit and attached some gangly legs and make it look like a weird Imperial Walker

I have a number of different kits that I am planning on using as a test bench for painting and weathering techniques so they will not get AM stuff either. In answer to your question, no problem at all leaving the tank off if you so desire. Seen plenty of Fulcrums without them! Look forward to the next installment.... Cheers, Sam

I am not feeling the hype yet... one day I will go postal nutty like you guys. Don't know when...
