Hi all,
I had a little problems, motivating myself to build again. So, the last 2 months, I didn't do anything (See Revell Powerboat).
But last week, a good friend of mine told/asked me this: He's renovating he's house that he recently bought. He's a builder to, but due to the works on his house, he's not building either (no space and to little time). He came up with the next idea. We both own the Shelby on 1/12 scale. He asked if I was interested in building them both at the same time. He does he's, I'll do mine. But we would come together in my place a couple of times a month. I have the room to do so, my apartment is finished.
So I told him: YES, great idea!
This is good to get myself started again.
So our first rendez-vous is next Thursday.
I'm gonna show the build here.
So, stay tuned.......

You'll like the kit. I built one last year but it was wrecked during my move =( It's a fun, detailed yet simple kit. I'm tagging along, Dom

Haha, great idea for a selfie.......
But this was the fun part. My compagnon phoned me a little time ago. He can't make it tonight. He's sick. D*****mn! So I promissed him to wait for him and not start today. At least, I could already check the contents, and yes, it looks pretty good with very few flash.

And we are out off the starting blocks! We both own half of the table: Me the front half, and Pierre the other side. It will be crowdy with 2 of this big kits on the table Pierre unpacking his kit Pierre started with cutting out one of the doors with a panelscriber. But the plastic is so thick, that he hasn't finished yet. To finish with something....... he started gleuing the engine. Me, I wanted to build a tuned version. So I decided to go for a reinforced chassis: Next monday, we'll continue this dual build. Thanks to my friend, I'm sure this is going to be a fun build and a motivation to strat building more then recently.

Thanks for all positieve reactions! Ok, first Pierre: Busy cutting out the door with a wire. And I continued reinforcing the chassis. But I wanted some extra detail, so I added weld lines. This is the work for today! Feel free to give me some comments, even negative. I can only learn from them. Also some more ideas are welcome. Next, I will spray the primer on the chassis, so that small errors become visible.

Nice surgery work on the door and those weld lines look pretty neat too! Nice progress on both.

First look at the welding lines was a little disapointing, but on a second look, they are great Dom. They do complete the picture of the structural improvement of the chassis. Question though : are you going to leave the small beam at the end open to the inside ? I would close this up. I'm wondering what the result of the weld lines will be when painted. I'm gonna try to show the model on a mirror, so the extra details would be visible. The opening...... yeah..... I have been looking and wondering myself. What do others think? Open or closed? It still can be easaly achieved, until saturday. then I'm planning to go for a round of primer.

Pierre has decided to go for a cenvertible: I started with primering the chassis, so I could see the tiny errors that have to be corrected. The oil pan received his first color :-) This is Hansa Pro-Color Ultramarine. Really nice paint to use in the aurbrush.

Mark: I'll be leaving the tiny holes open. I prefer that. The block should be "iron", the valve covers and oil pan the same shiny color blue.
Anyone that has info on a brand and type of paint that resembles very close to iron?
Dicky: I can't stop Pierre anymore....... I asked him already if I should check the Internet for a second kit... I had to cut the power to stop him using the Dremel.

Latest update...... When Pierre cut off the roof, he "felt" that the body became very loose. As it will be a convertible, he decided to glue the door back in it. This is a way to keep busy with your model..... markI did close the tiny little holes you mentioned, but forgot to take some pics of it. I also prepped the engine for some more paint and added 2 new pieces to it. It has been sanded on the places where the primer showed some minor isseus. The oilpan received 2 layers of clear. It lo0ks better in real then shown on te pic here. Damn Macro! Untill the next update....
