I got this from Wild Bill and immediately started it. The mojo disappeared so it has sat for a while now. I pulled it out last Friday night, finished the build and had it in primer before Sunday Morning. One long marathon paint session later got me here. I realized I was short on the appropriate Lifecolor paint so I decided to mix my own from MM Acryl colors. Yeah that didn't work. The base color immediately gummed up my AB and I was using MM's own Acryl thinner too. Plan B entailed a mix of Tamiya for the "correct" RAL colors. I used Tamiya Buff, Deck Tan, Flesh and Flat White for RAL 8020. I added a drop of Tamiya Khaki to the mix for RAL 7027. Thinned with Tamiya acrylic thinner, l achieved the expected results. Most "references" show the two late Tropen RAL colors as being very close in tone and reportedly indistinguishable from each other. Not so, exam of period pics show a distinct tonal change. So I used the SWAG method, measured it by the LAR scale and painted the darn thing. G

What's it resting on? Looks like good material for a base of some sort.

Very nice G!! Nothing wrong with ripping into a Pz III and hitting the paint inside of a week!! Yeah!! Dupes...thinking that is a heavily painted piece of EPS!! Does look a bit volcanic, don't it?

I ordered a set od DAK decals from Eschelon. They arrived yesterday so I got this one marked. I'll let it set during my four day work week and begin weathering next weekend. They were still wet when I took the pics. G

Thank you gentlemen, gentlemen thank you! This is up again, while the paint cures on the Befehlspanzer, I began weathering the Pz IIIL. I mixed tan enamel with burnt umber oil and used this as a muddy brown wash over the whole tank. When dry I went in with a yellow "filter" on certain panels and hatches. I then took a small bit of moist sponge in a cross locking tweezers and dipped it into dark brown acrylic paint. After blotting this off I delicately dabbed edges and certain high traffic areas to create paint chips. I highlighted the center of these areas with dark gray acrylic. Once dry I used tiny amounts of burnt umber oil to discolor the areas creating a worn effect. The acrylic is not effected by the oil like enamel would be. Stowage is just placed for now but it will be close to the final look. The white balance was way off as I had tinkered with the settings yesterday, but you get the idea. G

I did manage to take some better pics late yesterday. I'll call it done when I post those as I went in with some pigments and dusted her up.
