My spray booth was looking a bit on the dirty side and I was at a good point to take some time a bit of maintenance. Over time it had accumulated quite a bit of dried powdery looking paint and dust in the corners. Nice day today so I took it outside to give it a thorough cleaning. I built mine back in '09 with the usual do it yourself materials. Wood frame, Masonite, peg board, bathroom fart fan, dryer exhaust hose. I took the back off and slid the peg board out and found this:
YIKES! Can you imagine where all that paint powder would be if we didn't use a spray booth, or at least a mask. Well, I hauled out the air compressor and spent about 20 minutes cleaning this debacle up. The other end of the vent hose looked like a smoke stack when I put the air hose to it.
Once, it was as cleaned out as I could get it, I reassembled it and with the exterior vent in place, my spray booth is back home in the man cave waiting for the next mission.
Lesson learned here, and word to the wise, every so often, take your spray booth outside and open it up for a good thorough cleaning. Filters are great, but it still should be a good practice to take it a step further and give it a complete inside and out cleaning on a regular basis. No sense taking chances with yours or your family's health by stirring up all that built up dry paint and dust every time you turn your spray booth on.

Sorry about the upside down images. (I despise photo bucket with a passion!) The others were upside down but the edit worked on them to turn them over. Most of the time edits do not work. You should be able to tell the difference though.

Not much Dicky, just an all expenses paid round trip for the week.

Scary thought where all of the paint would have done if I didn't have a paint booth in my basement...

I'm all for the stow away adventure Dicky. I just need to grab my Indiana Jones hat and theme song and I'm ready to shove off.
Nasty thought eh Andy! Had an air brush with propellant can when I was a kid. Used it in bedroom a while but couldn't regulate it so I gave up. Probably a good thing or my kids probably would have an extra appendage or something.
