I ran into a little problem last night with the way I glued the shock mounts on the frame rail. The instructions were not clear as to how they went but I got it all wrong and the shocks ended up being too long. So, I cut them in half and re-glued them back together. So far the rest has been pretty peachy, so now the body panels are next! I think I'll go ahead and set the windows in and then tape them off for painting. Jeff

That's the dilemma I had on the shocks mounts... I had no way of checking the proper placement. I guess I should have left them off until I had the front axle in place, but the way they fell into place I thought I had it! Oh well. It's better than leaving them off too! Now... come on ET Model tires/wheels! I'm ready for them! LOL Jeff

Well, you know how it is. We wanted it yesterday or in my case... last week! I'm not impatient but I do hope these are the 'bulged' tires as they are advertised as "weighted". I hope that means the same thing or I will be looking for some MORE replacements resin parts again. In the meantime the tankette build will fill the time as I want to stay on target with the building steps and that means the tires and wheels are next! Jeff

Yeah Buddy, I do know how it is I'm just like a Kid at Christmas waiting for my stuff. You should be O.K. with the tires. When I see "weighted" I think of bulged.

Well, well. I waited 'Long Time' for these tires and wheels and they are NOT what I had hoped for. I will never buy ANYTHING again without seeing an actual image of it!! They titled these as "Weighted"... and I supposed they were the bulged type (like everyone else's products are), just a language barrier thing and they're not. They are just like the vinyl tires that come in the kit and as a matter of fact, I bet I can get them (the vinyl tires) to bulge a little with some heat applied!! So I must ponder on this for a while as it was 24 bucks shipped ... I don't really feel like shopping for more but I also don't want it to look like a toy either. Jeff

Dang Jeff I hate when that happens ! I held off on a resin set of tires for the MPVC kit because the description of them was "sagged" .....huh ? What is a "sagged " tire ? I wanted "bulged " so I backed off thinking it was a language difference but didn't want to take the chance . I'm in agreement with Nems about the bulge , it can be over done . His idea of sanding the footprint area flat does give a good look . I don't know about heating a vinyl tire to get the bulged look . You might end up with a really "sagged" tire instead .

Well you know, you guys are right. And so am I. Most of those pretty parade vehicles have the tires fully inflated, but those in actual service show some sidewall bulging. BUT!! What do you guys think of this? I do like it! Jeff

Excellent stuff for a Dio I say Wouldn't have to worry about the wheels then now would ya? You ARE correct Jeff! I have accomplished one thing with these wheels/tires... at least I can paint 'em and not worry about the paint falling off. I have decided to push on and use these resin parts and work with them some like Dicky said. I have other things going on and too many irons in the fire to get too anal over this. I have just learned a lesson and I want to keep building this truck. Besides, they ARE very good looking! Thanks guys for the support! Jeff

You can bulge vinyl tires by slicing a slit in the bottom and shoving some styrene in.
As for bulging, it totally makes sense. Back in my offroading days we would deflate our tires to around 10-15 psi. Larger contact patch and the tires could grab over things better. They're also less likely to sink into mud. I imagine military trucks do the same thing - exactly the reason Hummers have tire pressure controls in the cabin.

BUT!! What do you guys think of this? I do like it! Jeff Hi Jeff, the camo might look good but it is most impractical . As soon as the first rockets are launched the back blast would set fire to all that grass, and the vehicle would be ablaze in few seconds. " Sir the mission was accomplished, but we lost all of our trucks too" Keep up the good work buddy, and don't worry too much about the vinyl tires. You could cover them in mud made of white glue, acrylic paint, static grass and dirt from the garden. This would give you a sealed-in protection that won't destroy the rubber either Paul

You are so correct Paul, but I'm sure they would remove the grass camo before firing. It's just an attempt to conceal it for now.
Besides, the launcher isn't loaded yet.

Actually Jeff, I think that's just an innovative way to mow the grass...load the launcher, then fire away!

I went to Hobby Lobby today searching for shelving and found packages of "tall grass" that will work out to duplicate the photo. All I need now are the Def. Models tires!! I may mix the two placing the "bulged tires" on the rear and the ET stuff on the front. Jeff
