Do you live in the northeast, Jeff?

Hah, sorry - was using the mobile version of the site this morning, doesn't show the "location" part of people's ID box. Indiana is kind of a hike to come fondle some plastic...

Do you live in the northeast, Jeff? Nope and I knew where you lived before my reply! LOL One can never know what's around the corner for me BUT, some pictures would do for now? I just think that the BAT-2 Combat Engineer Vehicle has everything for me. It's resin, and an engineering vehicle and on a platform/chassis that I like. Kind of a 3-IN-1 kit! Jeff

Pics? Pics I can do. I've got the VT-72B and RM-70 MLRS...let me unbox them and take some. Not sure if it'll be tonight or not (maybe?) but soon if not. And let's hope I can get them BACK into their boxes - they're chock full of resin, etch, white metal, etc. etc.

Oh (please) don't put yourself out on my account. I know how putting that puzzle back together in the box can be. It isn't worth it.
I'll just do a search and see what I come up with... that is while cement is drying. LOL

Shouldn't be too much of an issue. I wouldn't mind poking around in there myself. Heh. And Panzershop isn't good at putting up pics of what you actually GET - it's all built, pre-paint pics on their website.

Thanks for the link as now I have my answer on more than what to paint. I knew Trumpeter messed up there! They have a hole in the dash but the way they have you assemble it, the steering column doesn't go through it. They have you assemble it like an older truck but it's clear that it DOES go through the dash. Glad it's not assembled yet! Now to disconnect the column and slide it through into that hole. Been looking but somehow my results were limited. Now back to work. Jeff

Okay! I got the camera out to show where I'm at and that I am NOT giving up! One door is to be open to show a Russian figure climbing (or even out) inside. Now to find such figure doing so and might have to use the correct head from another figure too. This will be fun searching for it. LOL Now that I have successfully slipped past this stage, the rest should be downhill! YEAH! Jeff

Nice work Jeff. While I'm here, here's my take on the "bulged" tire thingie, coming from an off-road background: Pneumatic tires work better in off-road situations with less air pressure, but need full pressure on pavement and for higher speeds possible on pavement: hence the addition of CTIS (Central Tire Inflation Systems) to allow vehicle drivers to change tire pressure, from inside the vehicle, to suit driving conditions. The comment was made earlier that vehicles in general seem to show signs of lower pressures (more sidewall bulging) in "field" situations or actually in operation, while parade pics usually show these same vehicles with what appear to be fully-inflated tires. I would propose that that's exactly the case: a parade vehicle will have the tires at max operating pressure for PAVEMENT, while in-the-field vehicles will have the tires at reduced pressure, for OFF-ROAD use. Waddya tink?

Gee... without sounding arrogant or conceited, I was once a Certified Tire Specialist as well as an ASE Certified Technician. But that was many moons ago! LOL Tires need to show some bulge at the contact point. The kits supplied tires are way too toy like, like a big round circle and not looking like there's any weight on them... kinda like it's suspended in the air. A side-by-side comparison can show that. Besides... resin looks better than the cheap vinyl material and they paint up very well. Thanks for the kudos guys! Jeff

Way to keep things going in the cab Jeff!! Coming along nicely! From a point of interest view and for the resin AM stuff is usually better looking, go for it! As for the operational...very little sag from what I see but in the end it comes down to how it looks to you brotha'! A little sag give the weight perspective nicely!!

Oops... I forgot, I worked a little on the little beastie last night. Installed the inner fender wells... ... and built up the headlight buckets in the fenders, ready to place on the truck! Looking forward to getting those fenders on and FINALLY it will start looking like a truck. Jeff

Thanks guys... I really appreciate it! Last night I got to thinking as slow as I am taking on this maybe I should get the Voyager kit for the launch tubes? That will definitely save me some assembly time and really look neat in the progress pics. Don't ya think? Besides... I really like stimulating the economy with upgrade purchases for my projects! That didn't take long Jeff! Nice choice for the launcher tubes, ought to dress this one up perfectly and you get to stimulate the economy as a bonus.

Thanks guys! Here's a few more pics as the cement is drying... NOW it's looking like a truck! How do you guys attach wiper blade arms to the body AFTER it's been painted? Attach it to the clear window and then just "in the neighborhood" on the body or what? I'm installing the windows AFTER I paint the body. This way I can get the interior at the same time. Any thoughts or a maybe a Better Game Plan for this? Jeff

Squared away the spare tire carrier. Next I think I need to paint the chassis then work on the launcher assembly. Jeff

Can't help you much on the wiper question Jeff as I don't typically build trucks or cars but do like where you're going with this one.

I'm installing the windows AFTER I paint the body. This way I can get the interior at the same time. Any thoughts or a maybe a Better Game Plan for this? Well I've never attached wipers before...how are they supposed to mount? My plan would be to attach the windshield first, then attach the wipers. If you position the truck so the windshield's facing up it should be easy enough to position the things and let them set without falling down or anything. Deeper question - are you going to mask the "wiper path" on the windshield? Always wanted to do this, just haven't build anything with a real windshield yet.
