How do you guys attach wiper blade arms to the body AFTER it's been painted? Attach it to the clear window and then just "in the neighborhood" on the body or what? I'm installing the windows AFTER I paint the body. This way I can get the interior at the same time. Any thoughts or a maybe a Better Game Plan for this? Well I've never attached wipers before...how are they supposed to mount? My plan would be to attach the windshield first, then attach the wipers. If you position the truck so the windshield's facing up it should be easy enough to position the things and let them set without falling down or anything. Deeper question - are you going to mask the "wiper path" on the windshield? Always wanted to do this, just haven't build anything with a real windshield yet. That was the FIRST THING that went through my mind when I bought this kit was to do that as well. I mean, all the top pros know how, so now I must look it up and see "How To"! I do believe masking tape is used... cut from a pattern made while the tape is on wax paper. Something like that, maybe I'll look it up on YouTube where you can find EVERYTHING! As far as the wipers go, I think I will dry fit the windshield and then glue the wiper arms to the truck. When dried, remove the glass. I may need to coordinate the wiper pattern with this as well. The truck will need that same stuff that the glass has too... right? I'm really getting excited about this guys! I bought the PE from someone here from the states so it should be here soon. After the tire carrier there's not much left to assemble but the launcher itself. I did a search for the engine (and of course couldn't find it) and found that the Maz 537 had that same launcher on it's bed! Now THAT would be cool. And the Maz 543 had one too so I see might be having a bit of variety in launchers! Oh well, thanks go out to everyone for stopping by and giving me the encouragement. Now to go surf for that windshield treatment! Jeff

Well, got another toy for my truck yesterday! And had to let a few parts fully cure before starting on the launcher platform and launcher itself: Working on it as we speak... even through the red flag time too. Should have more 2-nite! Jeff

How much manipulation do you have to do to that rack of PE? Do they all get half-rolled or something like that?

Umm, no rolling is required... the tubes are pre-formed and ready to go. The accompanying PE sheets will need to be bent and wrapped around the tubes. I will know more later when I get to that stage of the build. At least I do not have any seems to sand and or fill. Jeff

Thanks Leon! I do appreciate all the positive vibes going on here. I only had time to add a few parts yesterday: Getting very close to that launcher! Jeff

Just catching up on some of the builds going on here and I really like this subject. In fact I like most of Trumpeters recent kits. I am tiring of Dragon's 45 versions of the PzIII, IV and Stug. Keep up the nice work on this.

No sanding of tube shapes is always a good thing!

I STILL have yet to open the package so I have NO clue what's in store for me. It would be easy to just glue halves together and sand/fill the outside seams but this looks like gathering all the brass tubes together and strap them is a choir. LOL
Oh well... the PE set was around 40 bucks shipped, just shy of what the kit cost. LOL Then there's the cost of the resin tires/wheels and I bet something else will come along.
I bet I want different decals for the costly thing! LOL
Thanks for dropping by!
Jeff

Okay... just a few more pics before I go and cut the grass again! These are about ready for the launch tubes. Nice thing with the PE set is they give you about 5 or 6 rockets too! In solid brass too! NICE! And, the base coat of paint is on the rolling chassis. I may keep the wheels black (like the frame) and paint the tires, motor, etc. Oh well, getting there fast! The sighting device is the next step right before the tubes. Nice... it's like a kit all on it's own. Jeff

Making good progress Jeff! The inclusion of the rockets is a nice bonus, have you figured out how you're going to take advantage of them?

Making good progress Jeff! The inclusion of the rockets is a nice bonus, have you figured out how you're going to take advantage of them? Thanks Bill for stopping by! I hope things are well with you and you are on the mend! Right now? The rockets may come into play with a loading figure. Still, I want a guy getting out of the cab on the drivers side but now maybe the addition with a loader holding one I guess. I haven't thought that far ahead. I'll finish it up for my Campaign I am leading over at Armorama but then continue with it over here with the figures and that super tall grass I mentioned earlier in the thread. I guess that means I'll need a base and will end up being a dio of some sort. I most certainly have the truck fever now with this. I just bought 2 HEMTT kits and 2 sets of resin tires/wheels for it. Yes... this will be a 10-wheeler or what is called a 10X10. (God, help me) Jeff

I'm doing well Jeff! Been plugging away on a 1/350 HMS Dreadnought down in the Things That Float forum and have been enjoying doing something a little different the last few weeks with it. Sounds like you've been bitten hard, there's no turning back now with not 1 but TWO HEMTTs as acquisitions.

How much manipulation do you have to do to that rack of PE? Do they all get half-rolled or something like that? Oh my gosh. My first look inside the PE package. What have I gotten myself into now? It's about 40 bucks worth of super gluin' is what it is! LOL Instructions only mudd the situation. LOL I wonder... is there another kit that needs this set? LOL Jeff

You mean like how Voyager shows off their PE sets? Too late... I already painted the chassis. I still have that sighting device to assemble too. That looks like it'll keep those tubes at bay for me. Jeff

The wiring wrapped around the tubes was an unexpected surprise, but I need to check more references as I have not seen that at all. I am grasping at straws as you can tell. Jeff

I have to say, the balls on the end of your chains are bigger than mine.... that amount of PE would have me hiding under a desk. That was an IDF pun, by the way. Great progress!

That PE looks intense!
Think I'll stick with my plan to sell my early GRAD and snag the late GRAD that just released with the correct box launcher.
I'll save the fancy PE and tubes for when the BM-13 Katyusha when it comes out later this year...

You do not have to keep the tubes. The BM-13 had rails for the rockets. Sent by Tapatalk

I would offer to buy your kit, but I now realize I cannot use this PE set on it. I am using this in a Campaign Build elsewhere (and I am the leader too) and we have already given an extension on it twice so in an effort to EXPEDITE the completion of it I think I will use the kits parts but not permanently attach theme so later I can attach the PE stuff. The deadline in 9-1-2015 So sad but I must move it on! Jeff
