Pffffft!!! She knoweth not what she says.......... She might change her mind after Andy's visit... After that, the 'Powers that be',will commit her to a place similar to what me and Neems are allowed out of,on 'day release',OR LOOONG weekends in Maine,if we give enough notice!!!

Marc, what IS the nearest airport we could use,at your end?

The nearest is BGR (about half an hour away). Definitely the most convenient. Proooooobably a good bit cheaper to fly into BOS, though, and drive/bus the rest of the way up here (about four hours). Another option is PWM, which would be in between the two in terms of cost, and only about a 2-2.5 hour drive to the house.

Yeah, definitely. Aer Lingus has one from Heathrow to Shannon to Boston that's considerably cheaper than anything to Bangor. The other issue is that you fly right over Maine (usually all the way to Detroit to get a connecting flight) then fly alllll the way back when you're coming here. How about a boat? Dicky was in the Navy.

Am afraid she will love us even more. Thanks to my OCD I'd even do the dishes after all meals... that's what I usually do in my house.

Dupes, showed up late to this one. As has been said, awesome cave. It will be a great place to work. A great plan came together with some hard work. Will look forward to seeing the display cases when they get done too. Wish I could make it up there to see it but home's a bit far for a weekend excursion at this point. Enjoy your rather large piece of the world but be sure to come up for air sometime

Rick - no worries! Basement isn't done yet, so you're right on time. Dicky - it does sound like a pretty complicated trip when you put it that way... Joe - when I got out of the Army I did a solo drive from Fort Lewis to here in just under three days (71 hours, if memory serves correctly). You can do it! Leon - you're in! Indiana isn't quite "on the way", huh? Was hoping you could pick up Andy. Hehe.

last time i made a trip like that was over twenty years ago. three days in the cab of a pickup with my wife and a med size dog. the cab was not comfortable and the dog was not happy in the confined space. 3000 miles later i was here and decided not to do that crap ever again.

That sounds familiar. Mine was in 1996...thinking back, I have NO idea how I pulled that drive off. Certainly couldn't do it now, even with someone helping me!

would have been ok but my wife gets motion sickness on long trips. going through the rockies she had to take pills that caused her to be sleepy. everytime the dog moved it was a battle royal in the cab of the truck.
