Nice work on the Scooter there Doogs! Got to admire the strength of that super-glue application with the canopy, would never know it if you hadn't mentioned it.

Fantastic finish Doogs. You need to write some "How To..." books and articles. Your results are consistently second to none in my opinion.

Just read your article Doogs. Great work. Your skills in photography, graphic work, and imaging equal your modelling skills. My background is photography and printing. Best explanation of the differences of film and digital exposure I've seen. Tonal variances are certainly tricky and scale adds yet another dimension. I read you black basing article a while back and planned to give it a go. Many modellers will appreciate the great information you're sharing. Rick

im very glad you entered this into MoM because i may have never seen it otherwise. Doogs, you did an absolutely fantastic job on the paint. The weathering is perfect. Ive never done a jet due to lack of interest but you may have just changed that.

Well, the annual Austin contest was this weekend. I was under the weather, so basically dropped my entries off, scanned the vendor tables quickly, then went home and laid low until the awards ceremony.
Overall, the contest tables had a good but uneven turnout. But the vendor tables were a real letdown. Seemed like over half of them were cars and chintzy sci-fi stuff. There was little-to-no aftermarket. It's the first show I've been to where I haven't purchased a single thing.
Hardware-wise, though, things went well. My Ki-84 won it's second category win in a row and will now go into happy retirement, and the Skyhawk took first in 1/48 jets. I think it might have also won best USMC aircraft, but since I was under the weather I ghosted after they started getting into the auto categories and didn't stay for the special awards.

Congrats on the win Skyhawk win Doogs, bodes well for more jets off your bench I'm sure. That's too bad about the vendor tables...not buying anything is near sacrilege!

Well done and well deserved Doogs. Lately I'm seeing the same things as you at vendor tables. Region 5 in KC next weekend. I'm actually taking about 40 kits to a table to clean out the stash a bit.

Rick Considering doing that next year. Thing is, I don't want to be chained to a table all day (or have to show up that early...)

Awesome Scooter Doogs, and congrats on taking a gong home! Dunno if it is a current "thing" in the industry at the moment, but the last model show here in Perth was a real bit of a let down too. Vendor tables were really light on, and it really looked like a couple of the vendors couldn't care less with their half arsed efforts. Really struggled to spend my cash at the vendor tables, and in fact most of my purchases were courtesy of other modellers at the Buy, Swap and Sell tables on the Sunday morning! Hopefully next year will see an improvement.... Cheers, Sam

How's this for lazy. I bumped this so it's near the top of page 1. As I get to different stages I am checking back for any issues... like wonky LG mounts... and I am just too dam lazy to hit the button for page 3. WOW, didn;t relaize this build was that long ago. Almost exactly a year between posts.

Since it's been bumped.... am I the only one who caught the A-4 bug and had to build one (or three) because of this build? *raise hand*
