And the turret got a dusting of base color last night. The hull….not so much. There was an offending area on a front fender that needed filling. So, out came the Bondo. Followed by a wet sanding. Today the hull should get it's base coat. As to the offer my dearest Andy…….I fear you are using me to get to my tank. I've got a laundry list of things to get done today but, I make sure that shooting color is on that list! Dave

Definitely get yourself a tripod if you're shooting with manual settings...will make a world of difference! Looking forward to seeing paint fly. As for Andy, you know he's not above using whatever influence he can to get close to the objects of his desire.

What a fantastic job, Dave. You are right, primer makes all the fine detailing pop out.

Hello BIll, I still need to get the tripod. On my list of things to do this week. Paint flew last night. So, today I took advantage of the wonderful weather we are having and shot some outdoor pics. Hello Bob, Thank you as always my brother for the high praise. When I come up, I'll bring it and the Tigercat. Hello Leon, Thank you for the compliment. I had to make the primer go away last night…….It's all covered up with the base color now. Hello Luigi, Thank you very much for the compliment and your support. We have base color gentlemen. The sun and lighting are wonderful on the back deck. So, I opted to take full advantage of it. Dave

Thank you Andy. I have three dogs. The smallest is 72 pounds. There is absolutely no point in investing work to make my back yard look nice. As much as I want to, there is no point to it. If I did and the dogs tore it up, which they would, there would be a 9 mike mike reprimand. Then I would have to explain to my wife why we're "down" a couple of dogs. And you being married and, have poochies, can see where this would go for me…..no place nice. Dave

Good morning Bill, Luigi and Tojo72, Thank you for the compliments. I originally intended to do up something Soviet but, decided to go with a light camo scheme. I thought heck, I'll do it up in Iraqi markings. As it turns out there is not a lot in the way of markings. I'm still going to go with an Iraqi scheme but, the markings may well have to be hand painted. Unless, any one knows of an AM decal set.

There were a couple of UMM punch sets I had ordered that arrived the other day. One is a micro punch and, the other a hex punch. With these in hand I was able to finish the detail on the fuel drums. A couple of passes with the AB and violá. Along with painting the hinges that needed adding. It's difficult to tell in the pic but the color modulation has been done. Now it's time to walk away from it and come back at it with fresh eyes tomorrow. Dave

This is some pretty fine craftsmanship. Some models almost shouldn't be painted --- it hides all that exquisite work. Needs to be green soon.

Good morning Scott, Thank you kindly for the compliment and, for taking the time to have a gander. Funny you mention that. I thought the same thing when I laid down the primer. As for the green…..this is it. It'll be a Iraqi beast when it's all said and done. Good morning Leon, Why thank you my good man. I'm looking forward to getting fresh eyes on it today. I did find some Archer transfers with Arabic numbers. So, I'll either order some or I'll hand paint them. Dave

You're right about Iraqi markings being hard to come by...hope you can locate some or come up with a suitable hand-painted option Dave. Nice touches on the fuel drums, looking forward to more on this baby.

Good evening Bill, I opted to do up the markings with frisket paper. My very first "good" session with the stuff. The filters are a bit further off than I had planned. There is some detail painting that needs to happen first. Good evening Brother Bob, Thhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnkkkkk You! Not big leaps and bounds done today but, the markings are now on. The Arabic 3 was traced on frisket paper and then cut out using a fresh #11 scaplel. I shot a test number on a practice hull and viola! It was a go! The color is from the LifeColor Axis tank interior set. It's the Italian white and, it's actually off white which suited my needs just fine. The covers for the smoke dischargers were painted with Vallejo German Grey. Dave

Sorry for the delay gentlemen. The mojo took a slight step to the left. Studying for a new certification has taken a fair bit of my time of late. Well Bill, Andy is going to have to stick around for a fair bit if he wants to learn the handshake. I was quite pleased with the result. The last time I stenciled any marking was the Panther "Sofie" with the riders on the back. Hello Leon, Thank you kindly for the compliment. The mojo took a step back to the right today. As the mantlet has been painted, highlighted, and shaded (mostly shaded). It was fairly subtle on the topside so, it's kinda hard to tell. But, it is there. The smoke discharger covers got a dry brushing of Vallejo Field Blue to soften the black. Then a light dry brushing of Stone Grey to bring out the edges of the covers. The fuel lines were a contortionists freak show!! Ugh! Thank heavens for the Pana Vise holding the beastie nearly upside down so I could get all the fiddly angles painted. The un-ditching log was painted with Vallejo Old Wood. I am thinking that I'll build up the rest of the colors with oils. Dave

Good morning Bob, Thank you kindly as always for your support brother.
Good morning Leon, Thank you for the compliment.
Good morning BIll, Thank you. It was interesting painting them. More than a few times the brush went in blind before I'd see it contact the lines. Basically a total lack of depth perception at times. A very weird way of painting indeed. Suffice it to say that there was a bit of touch up involved.
Good morning Andy, Last but not least my friend. Thank you for your support. A lot of the info I already know. It's just that I have a low tolerance for half assed efforts. Hence the studying.
Bench time today. But first it's going to be Dads Wrangler YJ maintenance 101 today with the kids. If they want to drive it, they will learn how to maintain it. Todays class: replacement of the rear differential cover seal and, replacement of 20 year old door seals. Attendance of the class is mandatory. No attend=no driving the YJ.
