see what you mean, it might be somthing to do with the rubber absorbing more heat ? but then again that would make them sticky !! confused i am.

HAHAHAH! Hell yeah I am so confused... that's why I haven't weathered the wheels yet. Trying to figure out how should I do... LOLOL Should I follow the pictures or do what most of us do.

Yeah, if you do a model like that for a contest without placing the photo-proof next to it, judges will give you a roasting!

It's funny about what we 'think' things should look like vs. how things actually look under different circumstances. The reason you don't see a lot of dust on the tires is because they are moving...and that road is very dry and the dust would be very fine...so the circular motion of the wheels as they travel would be constantly disturbing the dust and not allowing a very thick layer to remain. Take a look at the third vehicle from the rear though...because of it's hub design, it's got a much more dusty look vs. the others in the convoy. The rest of the vehicle's surfaces however are relatively stable for dust accumulation...hence the difference.

Guys- Sorry for being slow... took family to amusement park out of state. Now my parents from Florida are in town visiting for a week... DR- LOL I will... thanks! Guy- I agree... always assumed wheels were dusty but not in this case. Thought I'd share with you guys... anytime my friend! Tobi- Believe me I am with you... its the judges that may disagree with me if I don't place the pix next to my 232. Not worth it... I am going for dusty wheels. I like this picture very much... pretty close to my 232... pretty weary looking!!! Appreciate you stopping by my friend! Bill- Thanks Professor! Makes sense... its funny how we always assume wheels are dusty out there in the desert but in the picture its not the case. Always learning something we all are, huh?

Getting closer to the finish line... added dry grasses to the base. Disaster has struck when I applied washes to the flag so I started to work on new flag but unfortunately two other flags were no good either as they were already stuck to the paper. I suspect the vendor who sold me the flags didn't handle them with care... Fortunately Archer is sending me a replacement at no cost... their customer service is one of the best. Anyway I applied sand pigments to the 232... Another round of sand pigment will be applied. Still need to finish the figures... not feeling it at this moment. LOL

Andy
I've followed this from the start, but I just realized I don't think I've commented on it! GAH! What was I thinking!
Really great work! I love the base and the degree of weathering you've got. All in all, this build really shows off your mad skills!
PS I'm from Maine, and used to get lobster from a buddy who had his own lobster boat, so I know what ya mean. Nothing like getting 'em so fresh (and cheap) that they don't even realize they're out of the ocean!

Professor- Thanks buddy! Believe it or not the replacement arrived yesterday. Customer service with Archers is one of the best out there... can't wait to put back the flag back on 232. Jeremy- Thanks my friend! Cheers! Boyd- Hey buddy! It was great meeting you finally. And I M-I-S-S Maine. My wife and I talked that we all have to visit Maine one summer... thanks for the nice words. Will add little more pigments to lower parts of the hull then I think it will be done. Philo- Thanks man! Hope to have the replacement flag on it tonight... wish me luck! LOL Johnny Boy- Thanks!!! Hope you are looking forward to the shows in 2015... Desertrat- Appreciate it... thanks!

It looks top shelf Andy, what a range of colors, and the spare tires have a GREAT look, love the dust in their profile.

Hey Guy! Thanks for nice words... my 232 is so close to the finish line!!! Still need to finish those two figures and water cans. Recognition flag replacement has arrived... have to say Archer Fine Transfers customer service is one of the best out there! Emailed them on Thursday and the owner himself replied and shipped the replacement. It arrived two days later!!! Thank you Archer! Replacement worked great this time and it is on 232 now... need to tone it down with dirt next.

Thanks wizardo! Yes so close... hope to wrap up the 232 so I can focus on the figures for the final sprint to the finish line. For some reason I am not in mood to do figures now... My eyes are glued to the news... Election Day results coming in.

Mr T- Thanks boss! Yeah bad luck... it always happen to me when I am so close to the finish line then things break apart!!! LOL Second flag is looking much better this time since I added ropes to the flag because the first time I didn't. Flags have to be tied down... right? LOL
Dave- OMG! You are really here?!?!? OLOLOL Yes I think I am going to call 232 done in the morning... applied more sand pigments so tomorrow I will remove excessive pigments then its done. Base is done too! Only need to finish two figures...

Called my 232 done this morning. Added small stuff... Some guys may disagree about the chains... who cares... it looks way too cool now! It makes the butt look more complete now. LOL Oops, one of British lads abandoned his helmet did he? Recognition flag has been replaced and weathered. Will clean up a bit more tonight I think. Added a war trophy to the 232... another British helmet. No hard feeling, my British friends? Now I really need to finish those two figures... thanks for looking!

This is weird... checked Archer set and all flags are incorrect. HA! I am not going to contact them again for a replacement. I am so ready to call this done! Have been busy painting figures for last two nights. Still a long way to go... First attempt painting the cuff title on one of figures... I was not satisfied then I remembered I have cuff title decals from Verlinden Productions somewhere in my stash. Bingo! Very old set but it worked... Now I am happy... hope you like it too!
