This video is a step by step guide to using Vallejo's AFV Painting Systems: Russian Green 4BO. Obviously there are many ways to paint and finish a model. This is a quick Step by Step guide to help the modeller understand what the AFV Painting System is about as well as a basic idea on how the system can be used.

Excellent work, Todd! A ton of very useful info in there. So does this mean that we're going to get a full weathering video with the Vallejo Sov weathering set as well...?

Thank you Jeremy!! I was hoping the 10-12 minute mark would work! Anything over 15 seems to drag on ans interest might be lost. Anything shorter looks like a commercial...LOL! Marc...Спасибо и благодаря для проверки ouy видео! Кому не нравится Российского Зеленого?

Well, I just learned more TODAY then I think I have in all the 'other' videos on air brushing. One question with the Vallejo's system, I see you squeezing it into the AB cup... is anything else added to the paint or is it used as shown? Is it that simple? Now I see why you recommended this product to me. Now no more hunting down separate products, colors shades, it's all in one box. And the colors are all there. Is there a good vendor in which I should acquire it from here in the states? Thanks for the inspiring video Todd. You made it look so simple. Jeff

Thank you again Anthony!! ...for the help and the kind words!! Jeff...thank you very much sir! I am pleased the vid was informative and somewhat inspiring...then it was not a wasted effort! To answer the question...Yes, it is that simple. I am only using the paint straight out of the bottle. The only time I added thinner was in the section where I dusted a filtering coat over the model...80% thinner (about) to 20% paint and backed off on the trigger to mist the translucent color on. Helps tone down the overall appearance. There are some excellent vendors my friend! Where I will not put one particularly over another I can list a couple here: 1 - Red Frog Hobbies - Ron runs a great online shop and ships right away 2 - Squadron - Since they are one of the largest distributors for everything, they typically will have items in stock 3 - Microworld Games LLC - Angel is a great guy and typically has everything that is needed..if not, he will order 4 - Megahobby - Large online store and the "parent" company is actually Steven Int. so distribution is never an issue 5 - Hobby Lobby - They may need to order as they are just getting up to speed on distributing direct I wish I didn't need to strip the model for use at the next show or I would get started on the weathering video for sure!!

Hobby Town USA stock paint too... both stores in Indianapolis so I wonder if there are Hobby Town USA in other states too. They are more stocked than Hobby Lobby at this moment... tall shelves.

There could be more of those stores. Guessing they have Squadron/MMD or Stevens as a distributor whereas I think HL orders direct.

Interesting to see one of those sets being used by a pro!
What I missed, maybe, was that the size of the bottles given in such sets are much smaller than the regular paints of their range. I only noticed this when I had ordered my US Army Olive Drab set. Next time I am going to see what colours are given in such a set and then order those colours individually in the standard larger bottles.

Thanks for checking out the video Thomas. I hope to have a few more videos soon. If not more of the AFV paint sets, to touch on weathering in different capacities as well.
The bottles are about 1/2 the size of the standard Vallejo bottles, this is true; however, there is typically enough paint within each set to paint 4 to 5 models comfortably from what I can tell. I do know that on the Vallejo website, the individual bottle names and numbers are shown for reference. I think if you paint the same genre of model consistently, then possibly getting the larger bottles might be due course. But if you dabble in one subject for a bit and move to another and maybe back again...cost-wise and functionality wise these sets are the way to go I would say.

This makes sense as you need to use ALL the colors in the set to paint the model, therefore not needing full-sized bottles. This also keeps the cost of the set affordable too. Good idea! Jeff

Very affordable! Kits run $12 to $17. You don't need to use all the paints if you like the look with jut two, or three. This gives some extra options for coloring as well.
