I demand a photo of the other side of the ad-hoc suspension... (LOL) ... All in good time Gary. You know what they say: 'patience is a virgin' rofl-roll

Found out the headlight wasn't as attached as I thought and blew it off with the airbrush... And because variety is the spice of life it got some red primer, instead of my usual light grey - also, having seen pictures of the Kubinka one before it got its new fantasy camo scheme, it definitely had primer under the 4BO: I'll take some properly lit pictures when the paintjob becomes more interesting. Cheers for looking

I've been there before with the airbrush launching parts for you when you least expect it! Looking forward to seeing this one with more paint on Dierk.

Paint flew: Spent pretty much all day yesterday chipping: Still need to do a few more bits and pieces - and don't those bits always seem to take the longest time? I came up with the number 168 the same way HAL got 'his' name in 2001. Now, I did attempt to do the rust by airbrush, but it just wasn't up to Scratch mod (see what I did there? ), so I cheated and used some magic instead: Towcable fit so well I didn't even need glue: Next a coat of satin - this is where I find out my 'magic' gets dissolved by lacquer (poke) - followed by filters, washes and muck. Thanks for looking, and as always, ACW

Looking good Dierk! Sorry to hear about the dissolving magic but that's the way with lacquers sometimes...the can be too hot to handle!

You misunderstand Bill - that was posted before I applied a coat of satin...I was just expecting the worst (prevents disappointment rofl-roll) But yes, the lacquer did leave a white residue on the rust in some places, but not a total loss. However, I then used some Vallejo washes for the first time, and was probably too liberal with the application toning down the chipping too much. But to reintroduce some variety into the paint-job I had a go at speckling the model with various shades of Vallejo greens and some Wilder rust speckling. Photos soon.

Just refer to it as a 'layered' finish and no one will be the wiser.

An update at last! Although I haven't added, or even finished, the turret MG, I'm calling this one done! I had suffered a self-inflicted cuckoo set-back with the tracks: I was close to running out of Vallejo grey primer, but had a can of Revell spray lounging about, smells like Mr. Surfacer...however, it pumped out such a vast amount of paint, all the nooks and crannies got blocked up, and the tracks lost most movement . One mistake I won't be repeating (hammer hit)! The outer tracks went on fine (ish) but suffered a few breaks, due to the problem with the paint. Next I found out that the instructions had gone all Dragon - no mention that the middle two tracks cannot be fitted when the track-runs are completed already rant! So, I would have had to break them anyway - but maybe not in quite as many places... First one is especially for Gary: collapsed suspension: The slogan on the barrel was added using a pen: How would you like your tank, sir? Rusty side up: Added some stowage that was left over from when I meddled with the hobby over 30 years ago - teabag tarp hides the seam I was too ignorant to clean up at the time: I found the red primer didn't stick to the surface as well as the grey I usually use. Especially on the very sharp edges, that I was too stupid not to keep picking the model up by (hammer hit)...must have repainted them 4 times at least: Although I'm pretty happy with the result, it wasn't quite how I'd envisaged it - all that chipping pretty much obliterated: hours to create, minutes to undo, ho hum, you live and learn. When I get round to it, I'd like to add some sort of base...got some ideas, just not enough time. Hope you enjoyed this build. Thanks for taking the time to have a look and maybe even leave a comment. Cheers, Dierk

Thanks for the excellent comment Leon, cheers mate. What can I say: most of the time my issues and problems are self-inflicted, either by cack-handedness, or often because I like trying out new products/techniques, but am too impatient to try them on one of my stack of ancient 'models' first.

Totally missed this, my bad. It looks properly nuked, very nice. I really like the soot around the exhausts, very realistic. Russian diesels make some serious smoke......
