Unless you meant to leave the one elevator unpainted? Nice work on the decal markings.

Yep Bill! I painted them vice versa. The blue side is white and the white side is blue. I never thought it would be wrong, untill i wanted to glue it on. Oops... Lol!!!

Good work - watch with great interest. Good luck in the future! Were there any big problems with connection parts PS offtop sorry I do not build planes, never. And did not know that this model make this scale so well. Childhood dream! Probably have to go to the store ...)))

And did not know that this model make this scale so well. Childhood dream! Probably have to go to the store ...))) Well serzh, this is the Trumpeter 1/48 MiG-3. Also availible in 1/32. In 1/48 scale you have the early and late version. Out of the box its pretty good. The main issues are the heavy detailing of the contol surfaces (you can fix it with the right amount of Mr surfacer 500) and i found out that he landing gear leggs are to long (3mm). You find this, if you wil fit PE landing gear doors. Some other small isues (like with every kit). I am a bit of a rivet counter with a ams issue, so i whine a lot over kits in general.... regards, remco

Kind of gives it some added character if you ask me! I've been there and done that too...never fails that you catch it after all the paint work is done and everything cleaned up and put away too.

Hey guys! The plane is in the gloss. The masking did its job well. Now i am busy with some pre-chipping of the blue undersurface. Hope you like it! Regards, Remco

Hey guys Some progress on the weathering of the plane. Here is the bottom side Here i did the right side of the flaps with humbrol paint. The result is a bit streeped, just how i planned. Some spots added for blending The white wooden parts i did with oil paints, to soften the "darkness" on these panels. No paint added Oils added And the result of blending the white oils on the panels.

I love it. Some of you guys really are temtpting me to build a wingy thingy. Must resist. Well, i mostly build armor. Planes are a perfect distraction. No tracks and wheels. Something competly different. I also have ships, so dont feel restrickted to armor. Really. Seek out a plane you like and build it

Well, finally some time found to paint. I weathered the aluminium cowling with mig dark wash. I used this because the MiG had some ''room'' between plating and engine heat, oil and exhaust smoke sometimes ''leaked'' away via the seams of the cowling. I was quite happy with the results. Above expectations. Photo's wil follow soon.
regards,
remco

Thanks for the nice response guys!
I just added the wheel covers and things are going great. I am sometimes amazed by the result of things i do. I have no real experience with aircraft and the weathering of them, so everything i do is a bit sheer luck (i think...). I have spoken with some guys who build aircraft all the time, and they like it very much.

Almost time to park this one on the base Remco! Looking good. Indeed Bill! Almost. I just have got a tip, that there is a alumimium strip was added (at the beginning of the war) by lots of MiG's and IL-2's. This is a easy modification by doing this with aluminium tape (i don't have) or some Tamiya masking tape and later painted aluminium.

Coming in late but it's looking really nice. No worries wingnut. Glad to have you on board! I am still not satisfied with the rocket rails. To clumsey. Just doesn't feel right. I think i am going for a second try. The rockets are horrible. the fins still break off, even when i fixed all of them. Now i can do it for the second time... I never do RS-82 rockets again. What a nightmare this is for my nerves...
