meh ill prob beat you to the end at the pace you go LOL, who knows, but it has to go fast then...don't have much time this week, but plenty next...and I'm at the OPR stage which I like a lot so that might go speedy. And the pigments after that are even more fun LOL Cheers

Since we are eagerly waiting for Spuds update, I thought I'd share some with ya lot in the meantime Couple of days ago I started the weathering using Michael Rinaldi's now famous OPR technique. It's slow but so much fun, and versatile. I started to focus mainly on the upperhull, engine deck and so on. It can be actually subtle, and to show the difference, I treated the lower part of the engine deck, and didn't do anything to the upperpart. Also added some more to the driver and radio operator deck. Note also the marks of the moving turret on the upperhull. Exhausts got painted using the Lifecolor Rust paints. Thinned a bit and painted on wet on wet. I started with the lighter shades first and ended with the darkest one. Oils are also great to show you marks and stains. I tried to replicate some marks which spare tracks left on the hull side. And although I'm still not finished with the oils, I thought it was time to add some heavy pigments to the lower hull and running gear I intentionally left one wheel untreated. Adds a bit more interest, and apparantly the crew needed to change a wheel so makes sense that there's no mud. And final shot, showing some more dirt, and also, if you look closely to the front fenders, you can see that the OPR has it's effect there as well That's all folks! Cheers

Looking good Wouts! Love the spare wheel swap out. Bet the crew had a lot of fun doing that with the crud on all the others. OPR approach is paying off, keep at it.

Leon, thanks bud Luigi, yeah like 'm dirty Glad you like it too. Still want to do a model with a restraint weathering finish one day though, but it's hard for me to manage lol Spud, well yes and no. Some paintchips have primer color in their center, but the light ones you see are chipped zimmerit (without the metal showing through). Zimmerit had a light concrete like color so that's why ^^ Guy, yeah, defo enjoying it a lot, weathering is the real fun part for me! I'll try to keep going and going and going...(wait, that's Duracell lol) Bill, I can imagine the crew weren't too happy, that's for sure OPR is so easy and forgiving, and so much fun. Really glad Mike released those books, a whole new world opened up ^^ Andy, thanks a lot bud! (you still wanna marry the dirty kittycat? LOL) Cheers

T, thanks chap, and concerning Spud? Rest assured, he has found his airbrush again, or so goes the rumor anyway Hi there Bootsey, thanks a lot mucker! And yeah, you should Hi Marc, no worries, progress is slow so always time to catch up ey Thanks btw! Well, time for an update I'd say. I decided to give the skirts the hairspray treatment. First I primed the skirts using Mr. Surfacer 1200. Followed by a coat of Tamiya Hull Red thinned with their Lacquer Thinner: After that, I sprayed on two coats of hairspray. In hindsight, it needed some more coats, because the paint lifted quite hard. Anyway, after the camo was sprayed on, this time the Tammi paints were thinned with water...sprays a whole lot more splotchy And then, the fun began...water brushed on, give it couple of seconds. And rubbing and scrubbing time! I also continued the OPR, this time on the turret. Just a small example (it's not as good as Mike Rinaldi's LOL): First I added the oils to a piece of cardboard to draw out the linseed oil. Then, using a sharp tipped (cheap) number 2 brush, I added the oil paint, in this case a dark brown: Then I turned to my flat broad brush, dipped it in odorlous turpentine, and whiped of the excess on a piece of kitchen paper. The brush needs to be nearly dry. Then I started stabbing and dragging the oil paint down I repeated the proces a couple of times, with different shades of brown in this area, and the result looks like this The hull roof and commanders cupola got treated as well and it turns out like this: The spare tracks received some rust treatment: I used the Lifecolor rust set paints, they were applied in thin washes and using a spongue. Still not there though: The tracks and running gear were glued in place, except for the outer roadwheels, these are still removable. And this is how she stands so far: Well, that's all folks! Cheers

Wouts - got to love those Lifecolor rust colors, great tones and really versatile. The weathering's looking really nice.
Spud - The paint looks really good. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.
