Coming off the Corsair, and with the Felixstowe looming, I wanted something simple to play with in 1/48. Airfix's Lightning seems to fit the bill. I'm planning to go with a NMF scheme to shake loose those cobwebs and play with tonal variation and weathering. Initial test-fit is better than I was expecting...seems like a nice, quick, easy build once the intake, cockpit and exhaust are sorted. The canopy fits better than almost every other jet kit I've touched, but ugh, it looks terrible. This'll be a good candidate for micromesh, Novus plastic polish, and my recent replenishment of cloth polishing wheels for the Dremel. More to come...

Well, looks like this one's on hold for a while.
Got back from vacation yesterday and found that my enthusiasm for the build had just up and gone.
Reaching out with the Force to see what jet is calling to me now. I'm maybe kinda leaning toward a Tomcat...

Know that feeling all to well Doogs. Finished two 1/72 kits and started three others when the Typhoon mojo left the building. Forcing it is recipe for a crash and burn for sure. Looking forward to where your mojo takes you next.

I knew you had started this ons but couldn't remember why you shelved it.
I'm going to do it for the MA Cold War issue so was researching it. I saw some grumbling a about the quality of the clear pieces.
How's the pit detail? Thinking about some resin.
