I'll raid someone's piggy bank next time I take a photo, gents lol Thanks. It's been fun...until tonight...tonight was an hour searching for a missing sprue followed by 2 hours of sanding seams off clear parts and cleaning them back up with intermittent tears. I'm having a glass of liquid I can't see through and headed to bed

I gotta say that's some damn fine work. This will be spectacular. Man I need to spend more time in this forum! Yes...yes you do need to spend more time here. We are always looking for more inmates at the asylum. And thank you for the kind words. I do appreciate you checking in. Ok guys just wanted to rant. I got the aft fuselage section glued up, got the bulkheads in...all that stuff. When I moved to attaching the two belly sections (the aft one pictured above, and the gun assembly) things just went to hell. The fit is infuriating. No real MAJOR issues, but it takes a lot of hands here fingers there and pushing here while pulling there to get things to line up...even then, I've got filler drying now. I'll photo it when cleaned up completely...but I needed to vent tonight UGH.

Sorry to hear you had to coax it all into cooperating Jimmy for the full installation...hopefully you can say at the end that no styrene was harmed in the making of this model...

Well the swear jar filled up quickly that's for sure. Thankfully, I've had some off and on time today, so I've been able to settle most everything with some filler...but it was frustrating to say the least.

We've had that cleanup chat haven't we Jimmy. The time is well spent though. The results are speaking very high praises for what you are turning out. Gonna be another beauty. Really enjoy the weathering. I can never get mine to come out the way I'm envisioning.

Rick, I've spent four nights since this past weekend cleaning up parts to prep for painting. Were it not for the ejector marks and micro-flash it would have taken a single evening. Probably could have done it in a couple but I get so dang bored I end up on the internet or the PS4....oh well...it is paying off because otherwise it's a really nice kit. With the weathering, I'm right there with you. I always have a completed picture in my head and it's never what I imagined it to be when done. That's why I always go through a 2-3 day "I hate it" stage when I finish something.

Anyway...I did want to prove to you guys that I am working on this dang thing, so I have a pseudo-update. This is about 75% of what I've got cleaned up. Have about 15 parts still need primer and a different color with the paint and had been working on getting the fuselage together. Forgive the phone snap-shot. I'll have some better pics in the following day or so. This is just to prove I'm working at not just hovering around here telling other people to hurry up with their builds Oh yeah..got the Barracuda wheels ready for paint....works of art...I'll get some good shots of them soon too.

Looking real good! Did you sand the wheels flat on one side or it came that way?

Andy, the Barracuda wheels are a wee bit weighted...not overdone like I think a lot of modelers do. The pouring block was actually there...when you remove it there's a bit of a flat spot, but I did "enhance it a little bit to look right to my eye. When I photo these with the camera and in detail you'll be able to see better....it does look a little drastic looking at them from the bottom

Been a while. Been working it's just been a lot of piddly stuff. Tried to get as much done over the weekend as I could...going to pack this one away for a couple weeks after tonight for reasons...anyway..here's some photos. Got the engine firewalls painted. The top portion (engine compartment) will be invisible basically, but did them anyway. The bottom section makes up part of the wheel well. Some doors. The fuselage. Like I mentioned before some fiddly and troublesome fit in places. Putty solved all issues though. Some of it is hudden under primer from checking my work. And wing heaters...again...invisible...but I made them pretty. Other work has been on the landing gear. I should have those finished tonight and will get pics up soon if I can.

Man, this is looking good already. Don't know how you can detail up parts so well that you'll never see again!

Normally I wouldn't. With this one...well...I was just approaching it as a "special" build given it's complexity and sheer size...on a personal mission to make it my "magnum opus." lol Can't say I'll be doing it on every build...but most don't have this much hidden stuff anyway.

Looking sharp... no worries we now know you got pretty wing heaters in there!

If anyone asks Jimmy you can say 'why yes, this variant does have wing heaters! I built them myself...but if I show them to you, I have to shoot you.' Some nice work on the cabling and other details as well.

Andy, thanks...haha. I have photo proof...now I just have to not forget to close them up in the wing...no promises Bill, thank you. I'm a little miffed. The red cables are enamel. I coated things with future before a wash, but somehow some paint lifted...so they aren't perfect, but they won't be seen so I'm living with it Rick, it does seem to be paying off. Surprisingly, the clean-up is becoming less and less of a chore. I don't know why, but the parts I've been working on lately are a little more crisp.

Bill, thank you. I'm a little miffed. The red cables are enamel. I coated things with future before a wash, but somehow some paint lifted...so they aren't perfect, but they won't be seen so I'm living with it I've had that happen on occasion myself depending on how long the enamels and Future each had to cure, the compound nature of the surfaces, etc. Sometimes even when plenty of time has been allowed for both to cure you can still get the occasional paint lift...all boils down to the complexity of the surface, how much thinner gets at it, etc. on whether it happens or not. Nothing in life is ever 100% guaranteed when working with solvents unfortunately! If you had the tan-color underneath the red, it produced a nice result though...not sure if that's where the paint lifted or you dry-brushed it after. Either way, it provides some nice detail depth to it even if it won't be seen...we know it's there!

Thanks very much, my friends. Really appreciate it. This one is sidelined for a bit while I finish off my Harrier, but I'm chomping at the bit to get back at it.

Basically it pissed me off and I shelved it. Getting the body together was a lot of work. It's mostly assembled now and I think most of the filling and sanding seems to be in order. Need to move to control surfaces. I lost steam on it. I will return to it. I'm in a serious funk right now. I'm working on commitments but my own builds are suffering. At some point the guilt of having not finished this one will get me and I'll wrap it up. But I don't want to force it.
