I was expecting it to be bigger but it is not! Looking forward to see more of this...

Thanks! I took it over to the Karl model and it is indeed the same scale, the chassis is about the same width and it looks like the crane will reach the Karl's top. The Karl also appears somewhat dated now that I've learned some better weathering techniques, so I may repaint it to match once this one is done. So far- Tiny wheels and a tiny muffler. I attached it with tiny tweezers. Because it’s tiny. Next step is treads by the book, not sure if that means I need to start painting the guts or if I should just leave the treads off for now.

Personally, I leave the tracks off until near the end. It makes painting a lot easier.

Looking good on the tiny monster!! I would leave the tracks off too, easier to work the paint!

Thank you both for the advice! I have to admit I already put them on though, at about the same time you posted. As the munitionsschlepper has large (one whole centimeter at this scale) fenders that block putting the treads on and they had to be added to continue, I went ahead and gave the grey areas of the vehicle a base coat and painted the tracks metallic and put on the fenders and their accoutrements. I should still be able to weather the right areas as the tank is fairly open on the sides, save for the fender region. I'll definitely be leaving the tracks off of the T-28 when the time comes, on your advice, it's quite closed in and hard to get to no matter what, and will be impossible to paint once the tracks and sides are in place. The mini-beast is drying for now, it'll need to be solid for those tiny tiny bits. Thank goodness for Tamiya extra- stinkythin cement. I couldn't have done these parts with the usual thick goo.

Thanks Bill! Assembly on it is complete (for now) and primer has been applied. I'll weather it to match the Karl soon. Here they are together with a tiny bit of drybrushing on the 'Schlepper. "Karl and the 'Schlepper" sounds like a decent sitcom... I'm not entirely happy with the kit supplied rope. I may replace it with something less frizzly and limp.

A good way to minimize frizz on a string/rope is to dip it in Future (the acrylic floor polish) and let it hang/air dry...it will be a little stiff but still flexible enough to work with and no frizz!

The finished Karl Gerät with its Munitionsschlpper: Though I've learned some new weathering techniques, I built the second vehicle to match the original. I didn't want to go George Lucasing my old models.

Wow that is sweet. Those shells must have made some serious damage when they hit their target.

Thanks Wes! There's a photo of one hitting from the Warsaw Uprising- Thank you both TRM and DeafPanzer!!! Leon- Thanks as well! I've considered a diorama of them, I think I would if I happened to find the right figures. I'm not heading online to hunt them down but if the opportunity presents itself I'd give it a shot. But I also like how they look on their own, sort of a two part vehicle. But then, it does lend itself to more…

Nice to see them paired up! Had to laugh at the George Lucas reference too.

Nice finish to the pair, Ari.
Keep in mind if you do attempt a diorama, the position of the Karl's suspension will limit some of the possibilities. When in firing position the suspension was collapsed and the gun literally sat on the ground to give it a stable platform.
