Hello everyone. Start a new project. SG-122. Soviet 122mm Howitzer M-30 + Stug 3. On sale is a good conversion - but I'm wondering do it with their own hands. www.mrmodellbau.com/_shop/product_info.php?products_id=143Model of the firm "Star". Wanted to buy and gun, but it would not help much, as glue around the booking screen would be much more difficult. In contrast to the situation sous-76i - little pictures (2), and they are not very informative. The network has a schematic view, which many take as a basis. I decided to start with drawings. Many do not understand, there are a lot of questions - but no other material. **********************************************************************************

deafpanzer, petros, bullardino - Thank you for your interest in the topic and the good reviews. Actually it is very difficult in the simulation segment. All joints sheets have a small overlaps or spade. This needs to be done. I think it will be difficult and will spend a lot of time. But it is interesting - to be continued!

Looking good Serzh! I am thinking the mantlet is looking almost spot on judging by the prints.

The work looks good. I would say leave it like it is. I can almost guarantee when you are done, you will be the only one who knows the dimensions are not quite right.

I know what has been done badly - this is the biggest problem))) perfectionism and psychiatry compatible))) Bug fixes. The strip of plastic for height control. Putty, water and glass. It turns neater and almost do not need to work with sandpaper.

dierk - I think it will not work quickly. Time work on the black blanks almost over. Will continue to be accurate and precise work - it's a long time. Plus doubts, mistakes and expectation of good mood))) To understand the situation and vision of what is happening in general - stuck mud flaps and added without glue parts of the tower.

Looks like you're on your way to figuring out the mounting on the gun Serzh! It is possible the mounting would be the same as on the M1938 (M-30). Same gun pretty much but with the external housing and without the splinter shield. Just a thought

Thanks for the reply. This would be a good solution for the model with open hatches. Combine segments model M-30 guns and self-propelled. In addition, a core set of removed all unnecessary, there is no basis. Therefore made as planned. The axle guns at the correct height took 2-3 minutes. The result was a robust design with the possibility of vertical guidance. Maybe I will do the internal safety shields, mounting which you said on the photo. But while I do not notch - we'll see them to know whether or not I can not. On the finished model that is difficult to see...

Go further ... The width of the opening will be adjusted a little bit later. Jumper from the top just a temporary measure. Glue the roof, only to then remove it. I am afraid that will warp sheets, due to the large incision. I'll be back))) To be continued ...

Impressive! I assume you are going to add bracing to the inside of the roof to prevent any warping issues?

Thank! Dierk - Yes. It is necessary to provide all, or design "float away" would be a curve and ugly. I Made the roof. It will be of two layers. The first (thick) for strength, the second thin that would display the thickness of the steel sheet. Unlike the Su-76i, the sheet is not sunk to the level of the side sheets, and is on top of them. This can be seen in the photo.
