Going to give this group build a go! Limited choice in the stash as this isn't my area of interest but have got a Tamiya Opel Blitz. So I'll go with that. May give me an excuse to buy something else as well!

I haven't really introduced myself. I am an historian rather than a modeller, at least judging from the number of models I have built in recent years. My primary interest is the Red Army between 1935 and 1945. I have a considerable library of recent Russian books on the subject, as well as many others on various campaigns and operations of the Nazi-Soviet War. At this point, I'm quite familiar with Soviet tekhnika and how it was used against the Nazis. If anyone has questions about what equipment is eligible for this contest, i.e. saw service between June and December 1941, I am happy to advise. To take T-34s as an example, the DML kits that qualify are 6205, 6418 and 6355. The others represent variants that were not produced until 1942. The only factories that were delivering T-34s in 1941 were KhPZ (Zavod No.183) in Kharkov and STZ in Stalingrad. The STZ tanks, for the most part, were indistinguishable from KhPZ tanks until late in the fall of 1941. Neil Stokes has sorted the KVs admirably. Details are on his site 4BO Green. www.4bogreen.com/kv-series/recipes. Tamiya's BT tanks are excellent and quite suitable. There were still lots of BT-5s around, for the brave. The Zvezda BT-5 is junk. The recent Hobby Boss kits of the T-37A, T-30, T-26, T-28 and T-35 all qualify nicely and are generally very nice kits. The RKKA had some 10,000 T-26 of all versions in the tank park in June 1941. The recent HB BA-10 is a very nice model. It needs a bit of TLC (tracks) but not much. They have a BA-3 announced, as well. Building a BA-20 is more challenging since the one kit is an antique. Miniart's GAZ trucks are exquisite, much better than any of the ZiS-5 kits available. Trumpeter's Komintern and Voroshilovets tractors or the Mirror Models Komsomolets can be combined with some of the artillery pieces now available. FWIW, the only gun that was supposed to be pulled by truck was the 37mm 61-K AA gun. The S-65 was not a military tractor per se, but were impressed into service in huge numbers. Horses remained the primary means of hauling artillery until late in the war. Anyway, that's a thumbnail description of the best kits now available for Red Army equipment. There are many others, of course, but most of them are not worth the effort when compared to newer releases. HTH Regards Scott Fraser

Guess I may have to jump into this myself, got an idea that'll use up some stuff that's been laying around. Will post pictures directly.
This assumes that I'll finally get done with the 38(t)/Panzer II project what's been dragging on forever

Marc you will be surprised how little time, or how fast 9 months go by when your busy with things like reviews, the forum, shows and now working for Vallejo.
I will be doing the 8Rad and also a SdKfz 251 ausf.C Command vehicle. Hoping to make these two part of one small dio.

I am going to build a Stalinets tractor probably towing an artillery piece (undecided which one yet), and if I have time a 251 halftrack.

Did a pile of research last night both online checking dates and digging through the stash/decal pile for markings - looks like there are quite a few aircraft I've got that are applicable...Yak-1, I-16, IL-2, MiG-3, 109Es and Fs, Ju-87, He-111, HS-129 to name a few. Definitely starting with a wingy thing and then we'll see what happens after that!
Had hoped to find some lend/lease type stuff, but it appears that while the deals were signed in time for Barbarossa, no deliveries of actual equipment made it in time. Too bad, was hoping I might be able to swing a Soviet Spitfire or P-39.

I'll Throw my hat in the ring. It will be one of 2 projects. Either the Karl Gerat "Adam" It fired 4 shots against the "Moltov's Line" on June 23" If I do this it will also have 2-PZIVD MunitionsSchleppers, But this may be an Ambitious Project as I plan on full interiors on the PZIVs. so I may just opt for the 17cm K18 if I can find out if that took part in OPBO. And save the Morser for Sevastopol.
