Somehow I managed to miss this one all together, my apologies - I'll just pull up a chair in the back on the cheap places and watch and learn. Nice work! Really enjoying watching this one come to life.

Thanks for all the nice comments. The next step was a hard step for me. (like on other tanks, too) I wanted to build the fenders out of brass and I am always a bit afraid of cutting them of. I've pulled up next to Dierk, watchin from the cheap seats. Nice work, and I personally enjoy pimping an old kit more than assembling a new kit, but I may be weird....

Here just a short update... The last days with the kit were really hard for me. I have cut away the kits fenders, to replace it with brass parts. The front of the tank was very instable, so I fixed it with some styrene... IMG_2781 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr IMG_2780 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr

Nice work! I know how you feel - I always break out in cold sweat when it's time to cut into a kit with no way back if it goes mammaries up.

It begins to take the right shape. Today I have made some first detail work. I added the holders for the front and back fenders. The first weld seams I added, too. This is the first time, I work with GW green stuff. It was not easy for me. This stuff sticks on the tools, but not on the plastic of the kit... Maybe someone of you has some tips and tricks for me? Can't help you with the putty sticking issue but can say that it's looking good with the added details for sure. As for sweating surgery, that's when you go from being the chicken to the pig when it comes to breakfast! You're no longer involved, you're committed!

I always use stretched sprue glued and flattened with liquid plastic cement for welds if needed. While the stuff is still soft you can go back and make the correct pattern with a knife or fine screwdriver or somesuch.
Great job on the SU your PE work is lovely amongst other things
Regards, Mark

Thanks for all the nice comments. Today I made a test prime coat, to see how the structure of the cannon and the filled areas look. IMG_2846 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr IMG_2847 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr I think the structure of the cannon looks pretty good with the primer, but the filled gaps are not very nice. So I have sanded these areas again, to get a smoother look... IMG_2851 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr IMG_2850 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr I glued the upper and the lower hull together. But in the front section was a gap of 1,5mm, which I filled with green stuff. When it`s dry, I will sand and prime it again. IMG_2853 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr Sorry for the poor images, I used for this stage only my mobile phone. I will use the camera again, when color comes intoplay...

Maybe someone of you has some tips and tricks for me? Matt - Hi! Metal parts look very good !!! As texture casting. Respect! With this putty I was not working, but the problem is clear. Glued to everything except the place where it should be. Option - wet water tool. After a certain number of stitches made the problem disappear - you become more experienced. Just advise to put putty in the groove made on the spot weld future date. My personal opinion, these joints (on a flat surface) is the most complex. They take a lot of time. And pay attention to the width of the joint along its entire length and texture, making it smaller. Here is an example slightly exaggerated, but this is impossible on another scale. Some points have to emphasize, otherwise they will not be noticeable.

PS These shallow lines are very helpful to apply and form the weld.

This afternoon I spent some time with detail work. I made one of the boxes on the fenders. I think this was the most difficult of them. IMG_2869 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr IMG_2867 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr IMG_2864 by mad_airbrush, on Flickr I added the rubber track, to see how it will look in the end. But I don`t like them. (I have to order some metal tracks soon...)
