Ok, I am back from vacation and it was a great time. Actually, I have been back for a couple of weeks now and thought I would update my progress. I have since added groundwork and sculpted a farm road through the middle of the base. The tree will be placed on the far side of the road and I will be adding longer grass mixed with some flowering tufts. On the near side I plan to add a barbed wire cattle fence with some longer grasses. I am also going to add some short grass along the crown of the road. For the groundwork I ended up using celluclay mixed with white glue and a handful of "saddle brown" sanded grout. This tinted the celluclay to a nice light earthen tone. I then added a raw umber wash, added some varying tones with Tamiya lt earth, then drybrushed a lighter tan along the track with craft paint. Some progress was also made on the figures which are now cleaned up, constructed, and base coated along the fleshy areas. One figure from the Zvezda set was replaced with a seated Alpine Tanker holding a puppy. And by request by Coro, a closeup of the tree branches:

Your tree looks great. It looks like foliage? @coro MBZ has nice lasercut leaves with fair conditions. But only 1:87. Too small for your trees. And mine

hey gil, your tree really looks fantastic... really like the look of it lunaiko yes 1/87 is really to small, i also thought about 1/35 laser cut leaves, but i think the work gluing leave by leave is a tedious work... i am not quite sure about if i am willing to do... :-)

The figures are finally done. These aren't the greatest pics but you get the idea. I took them this way so the faces can be seen. The shading isn't easy to see in these pics but I am happy with the result. The Zvezda figures are a little lacking in detail compared to the Alpine fig. (can you pic it out?). I added more hair detail with "Mr. Surfacer" 500 and and a strap for the mp-40. Drilled out the pipe, added a couple of cigarettes, and used Archer dry transfers for the collar insignia. Thanks guys, yes it is finally coming together. These figures were really labor intensive, more so I think, than the Tiger. Now on to finishing the base. Grasses and a barbed wire cattle fence. I already scratch built 3 strands of barbed wire. I will be putting my static grass applicator to good use.

Excellent work. I know nothing about tanks but that tree is perfect, as is the groundwork. Even the fence posts look real.
