LOL... Youre the fourth one who is asking this. Never mind. I dont know whiy it is like that. But its a review figure, so I didnt want to remodel her and left her as she is. Maybe she has those parts fishes have at the side of their head so they can breathe (dont have the English word for that ready, sorry).

LOL...been blamed for worse by less!! Enjoy my friend!! Certainly look like you are!! I love the base concept an the paint!! Nothing better than allowing a little personal artistic license to the build!! As for the nose...she is not suppose to have one!! Just the way her kind is!! Personally I like the purplish tones you have going on! Keep up the fantastic work!!

I dont know what she is supposed to be - biologically. The paint says "Im a lizard!", and somehow she reminds me of Avatar. The only thing I dont like about the paint on that picture above (and thats a personal, subjective thing of course!) is the NMM finish. Maybe Im a bit traditional in this case, Metal has to look like metal, and not artificial - although the NMM paint itself is very well done! So shes getting a full load of Chrome, washings and all the oldschool-stuff. And here she comes - maybe I call the vignette "A night at the movies". Thats what the sign says: Kino (= Cinema). Bit bad light, I know...

Cool little figure you have here, Bro! The Base rocks, but I miss a little coke can or popcorn case (for the "Kino", it is the german word for cinema). The figure has a cool painting scheme. It is very interesting because I think, you can use tons of different colours here. Top work as ever, Lucas!

Dont like Nachos. Popcorn is better. A red/white paper bag and some fine material (flour/salt/...) will do.

Yeah... thanks. I think Ill paint some more details tomorrow - another figure project is coming seperately btw: a British soldier in Roman duties - a so called "Squasher" from 5th Century A.D. in a battle with a wolf. The idea with the wolf came spontaneously when I visited my local model club today, they had one left, and its a perfect chance to create a simple, but powerful vignette. But... thats another story, and Ill tell it somewhere else (WIP).

Are we talking the El Viejo Dragon model of the "Exculcatores iuniores Britanniciani"? If so, a couple of points to bear in mind. Firstly, the unit wasn't a Legion, it was an Auxilia Palatina. Secondly, the item in the right hand isn't a mace as some have interpreted it; it's a "martiobarbuli" or "plumbata", a dart with a wrought iron head, round lead weight in the middle, and a wooden shaft - what the flights were made of is uncertain. Five were carried in the hollow of the shield, there's one cast on the back of the shield with loops for the others. (The shield should be more round and slightly dished, the cut out for the hand-grip wasn't round but a keyhole shape, some surviving examples had the back painted a light red, others with more complex designs on the front had geometric patterns on the back.) There's a lot I don't care for with the figure, it has a mix of parts in the equipment, some of which are much older than the others; for example, the helmet has a late skull but much older neck guard and cheek pieces (the only surviving item to suggest such a combination is an early skull adapted to take a later form of neck guard and cheek pieces!). However, the thing to remember about any figure from antiquity, saying it just weren't so is just tempting fate; as soon as you say it some archeologist is just bound to dig up something to prove it were so after all... Personally, I'd suggest substituting a shield pattern for one of the Legio Palatina - plenty to choose from - and painting the figure with a standard Late Roman white or off-white tunic with dark reddish purple applique tapestry decorations, mainly bands at hem and wrist (you can't see the ones on the neck, chest, back and shoulders) but with large decorative patches on the tunic skirt in front of the thighs.
Regards,
M
