What is the pipe work that runs from the front of the glacis along the right side of the hull?

I was at a lost as to what it was too, turns out that it was a brake cooling vent pipe. I honestly wouldn't have guessed that, but I remember reading the Panzer I had brake issues so I guess the internet's explanation is ok for me.
Cheers

Cheers #57 Makes sense as the the driveshaft ran down the right hand side of the hull to the transmission and differential/brake units and the driver sat on the left. Must have got pretty hot !

It's funny because it's a corrugated rubber hose...not metal, so you'll often see models with it painted like it was an engine exhaust-type pipe as well complete with rust effects, etc. It's just a simple air venting pipe, not a fed-air system like a muffler/exhaust.

Thank you for that info on the material. Looking at period photos they look to be painted the same colour as the rest of the vehicle and in preserved models they're gone entirely. Which totally makes sense for rubber to rot away. But in like 50% of the models they're painted like a cast iron intake manifold. Glad to get some confirmation on how it should look. Cheers #57

Cheers #57 I made the same mistake the very first time I did a Pz I build many years back before I learned what it really was and fixed it the next time I built one. You can paint it a dark rubber color similar to tire rubber or paint it hull color, both seem to be common depending on the scenario. Happy to help!

Dang MK tracks. Big improvement over the kit pieces, but they gave me fits. One run went perfectly but the second for some reason was too fragile to handle with any confidence so I had to mount the tracks on before painting. That should make painting the road wheels fun. Trying to figure out a small scene with the chap in the previous pictures, still playing around with layout ideas. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Anyways, seams are sanded, gaps are filled and primer should fly in the next couple days. Thanks for looking. #57

Hello Again. A little progress made. Primed with vallejo primer and sprayed with tamiya semi-gloss black. Note to self need to get black primer, this two step nonsense is silly. Sorry about the photo, all black and cellphone are a bit of a nightmare to photograph. Wanted to try a different painting technique so giving JimmyDel's black basing as shot. Just to switch my usual things up decided to paint the figure first. I'm a huge fan of figures on models, but not of painting them. I'm relatively pleased with this one. Usually my figures look like they just opened the ark of the covenant. The zoomed in photos show a couple places I could stand to fix, but naked eye a couple inches away it looks ok. I found out after the fact the red silk scarf on the figure was more of a Herman Goring Division thing, but he's rocking it. Thanks for looking. Big work project coming down the pipe so might be a while before my next update. Cheers #57

A little bit of paint. As promised, got out the good camera. I like how painting over the black base turned out, but the effect seems a lot more faint in the photo then it does to the naked eye. Any bare spots paint wise with the regards to the suspension will be taken care off, the wheels can still spin so I can get whatever help I can painting the road wheels. May hit a Michaels on the weekend and treat myself to some new fine brushes because I may need all the help I can get to paint the details on this runt. Thanks for looking, #57

Looking great!!! The figure is looking pretty good too! Was wondering if you know about the big national show in Auburn, Indiana? Its not too far from Windsor... maybe two hours or less?

It's about 3hrs, which isn't bad. I'd love to go to Auburn this year for the show and the Auburn/Dusenberg museum, but I'm 0 and 1 the last time I tried. 2012 I was working crazy hours and Mrs. 57 told me to head down and treat myself. The night before I was going to leave Mr. 57 jr decided to show up 4 weeks early. This year I'm definitely heading to Columbus for the IPMS nationals, German food and to be yelled at by Buckeye fans. I don't think I could do both this year. Maybe 2016 if the venue is the same. #57

@ Andy - Sounds good, I'll be there mid morning on the Thursday and leaving on the Friday. It's about all the time I can scrape together to go.
Glossed up the tank a couple nights ago and put the decals on tonight. Really hoping the decal softener works its magic on the turret. Hope to get some updated photos up soon.

The decals need a 2nd dose of softener and found myself with an hour to kill this afternoon. I decided to make a little progress on the base. Will add das pronto clay for the ground work and see where things go from there. Cheers #57
