Thanks, Todd. I used the brown wash first, then went back with brown and black to give them some individuality, and make some look like the bearing seals were oozing a bit. They'll get toned down a bit with pastels, but I'll go back with the black on a few to give a well-used look.

Okay, rather than do something I'm not happy with at a later date (like tomorrow) I decided to chill on this one and get the other three that are going ready instead. I got the washes done to the point where I could do the pastels, did that and started some minor component assembly. That's about when I started weathering the tracks, and I ran into a wee hitch: the iddy-bitty pins didn't hold things together well enough after paint and I suddenly had about nine segments instead of two runs- no biggie, just a a time bandit. I installed some old Tamiya kit tracks, just for a look-see, and wasn't totally happy with their thickness, very noticeable with no dust shields installed. So in the interest of not buggering the thing up, I decided to call a halt and do a little final prep on the other models going with me this weekend. In the meantime, pics: Things yet to be done, that I'm aware of, there will be more I'm sure: TC fig, turret MG, finish the spot light, stowage, detail painting, fix the left side "3", proper tracks, head light lenses, tow cables, oil and fuel staining, finish detail painting... and that's just what I know of now.

Sometimes it's a good idea to listen to that little voice that says 'maybe we should wait for the next step a bit'! Looking pretty good so far Russ.

I agree Bill, but I sometimes can't decide which little voice to listen to....

One of good reasons I am glad to be deaf I can't hear my own little voices... Step away for a while and see what it wants from you. Looking good like the professor Bill said!

Okay, after a little family medical drama (wife, appendix, it's all good now) I'm back....... I caved and pulled from Friuls from a long-time shelf queen, and then started some stowage, and I like the way it's going, makes me glad I took a break. I accidentally deleted the pics though.... oops.

Seems to be the season for better halfs to go under the knife? Wish her all the best, and I'm glad it went OK - from personal experience I know that these things can also go badly mammaries up.

Thanks, Dierk. She's covered up in flowers from the neighbors, a cake, candy.... you know, girlie things. And I found a pic: I like "mammaries up", right along with "tango uniform".

Thanks, Leon. She's much better today, and actually went to work, wants to get a half day or so in.... She's tough, no doubt. So I have a pic of what I've started with stowage, using a Tamiya tent bag from their modern accessories sprue that's in several kits and sold separately, and one (so far) individual pack. More to come soon, I hope.

Coming along nicely Russ! Always nice to be able to take advantage of already-used stuff like those Fruil tracks.

Yep, and the model they were on wasn't making me happy, so it's a win-win. I'm going to take a closer look at some of those accessory sets, I keep grabbing them up and using just the jerry cans or MGs from them, but the tent cover thing worked nice enough to do it again, and I've got a very late M51 in the list of things to do this year.

Okay, turret stowed up, still thinking about a wrapped-up 50 cal barrel in the brackets I put on and forgot about, rear bin cover base coated, jerry can straps on, jerry cans assembled and base coated, driver's hatch with open periscope on...... Getting close, and I'm very glad I didn't try and rush this one for Scalefest, never would have happened.

Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk..... I just can't help myself. The problem is that there are always three or four I want to do, but barely have time for the one or two, or three.... Noooo!!!! Only two at a time, I promised!!!!

Thanks, Leon. Buckles: I found some patches for ammo cans on the sprues in the Academy MG set, and sine I didn't use them on the ammo cans themselves, shaved them off and used them here. I think they look the part.... I also placed one tow cable on the rear, wrapped around the stowage bin and hooked to the two rear tow hooks. I have tried to find a good way to stow one up front, no luck so far.

....and it's not a train! I had a little time after dinner with friends last night, so I re-did the spare tracks on the turret, then started the headlight lenses. It's the little things, the itty bitty things..... It's always a good idea to use my tripod in the morning, otherwise my pics look like these ^

A couple in focus: Noticeable is the difference in track tension, loose of the right, perfect on the left. One kink out of the right side makes it too tight to re-connect. Part of that is my fault: in the process of setting the ride height and a very slight nose-down attitude, I got the right side about 1mm lower than the left. Couple that with the difference resulting from having a staggered torsion bar suspension, and bingo, loose tracks on one side. However, and here's a bit of trivia I just found out about Magachs with Merkava track, which certainly could apply to M26s with the same basic type of single-pin track (bored nuts yet?): the Magach crews intentionally run the Merkava track loose in rocky terrain, and tight in sand. Blow me down.
