Looks superb. Really like your progress. Gonna be one big bird when she's done.

Update time. So I was dead set on the wing fold and I can't find a single pic of Intruders with folded wings and dropped flaps. I'm admittedly becoming more accuracy minded, so I did the flaps raised in prep for that. Got the inner wings on. These are a bit of a force it issue, but some careful gluing gets them down nicely. Unfortunately, after some test fitting I am 90% certain I'll be extending the wings. The fold engineering is incredibly stupid...and weak. So now I wish I had dropped the flaps for the visual interest of it all, but oh well. The bays needed to be painted before joining wings. There's some PE that extends across both parts, so that's yet to be attached. I got the intakes on and there are painless. I also got the nose on...which isn't as painless, there's a bit of a step on each side, but only in one spot (as can be seen by the putty). I suspect this was user error closing the forward fuselage not tight enough. Intakes were painted behind before attachment. This one is still very much in progress. It's just really slow going because of other stuff taking priority.

Glad I'm not alone in my assessment of the fold

It's awful. I mocked it up and it was so flimsy it's ridiculous. Now, with some solvent it may be passable, but I ain't risking that...especially since I plan to transport it.

That's too bad on the wing-fold design...sometimes you can only shake your head at the designed elements...it may be technically accurate but physics cannot be denied! Is there any way you can design the wings to be separate for transport and then just placed for show/display? I'm guessing 'no' due to the weaknesses involved regardless.

You could probably do it, but you'd have to delete some detail elements like plumbing and some smaller hinges that would really kill it for me. Now, the wings were supported by a bar that went between them and the fuselage on the real thing. This is provided with plastic, but replacing with some brass rod may help strength. I'm going to mess around more with things when I get to the critical decision point, but I'm as of now I'm leaning toward the safety of extension.

This is an area where the 1/48 Hobby Bosses do a much better job - they've got channels in the wings for these really heavy "dogleg" bars of plastic if you're going the extended route. The 1/32 has a tiny little pin-thing (maybe 1/3" long). It could be done - the challenge of fixing it for removal and refitting would be the hinge cover humps on the wings, and doing them so they don't leave gaps.

Ok. This one's been the victim of a few things. 1) Other builds with deadlines 2) A monotony induced funk over repeated cleanup of issues along the spine 3) The real life times sucks of a parent of two toddlers. Slowly working on it though. Once things were all together I primed and found my cleanup along the top was less than spectacular. I didn't have a properly 1/32 spaced rivet tool so my first go was just adding them back with a needle...well it looked like crap, so I ordered a wheel, sanded down the whole top and re-did it. That process drained me a while, but I'm to paint now. Not much to show really. Mr. Finishing Surfacer 1500 followed by Mr. Color Off White. It doesn't even look white yet. I need another airbrush session to finish the first application, then I'll go back and do another marble type coat...maybe with straight white to get some built in variation...or I may leave the white for the blending layer...who knows.

Any progress is good progress especially this time of year Jimmy. Nice to see the Tadpole isn't being fully neglected.

Bet your hands were tired after that kind of painting session? Can't wait to see the next update!

Yes. It's pretty taxing. That's why I'm just taking it in sections with no real hurry. It's work, but it's worth it.
