Man that weathering really brings her to life. Your opinion on the Revell 1/48 F84 and F-86 kits?? Tempted to grab one or both cheap on ebay but not sure if they are worth it. As long as they have engraved panel lines that is basically all that matters to me. I can buy some AM items to liven them up a bit but if they are junk then not worth it. I got to play with the new metal colors again so I'm itching to build some planes. www.facebook.com/vallejocolors?ref=tn_tnmn

I know the Promodeller F-84 is a solid kit - generally regarded as the one to get in 1/48 (though the Tamiya is also nice). Can't say about the F-86. The F-86D Sabre Dog is another solid kit, but other variants I'm less up to speed on.

The F-86D looks really good in the box, and I've seen a couple built up that looked great. I think it would be a great way to get to using some NMF in a quick manner. I really don't know much about the other two.

Thanks guys, yeah I think it's the D version. I also have seen the Tamiya 1/48 F-84 on ebay. Might grab one of those next month. Have to first find time to work on the Acadamy F-86 I already have.

Super-duper home stretch now. Still have to install the SUU-20, some speed brakes on the bottom, and the canopies. Probably be wrapping up Friday evening - have to paint a few hydraulic bits tomorrow so I'll probably blow most of my time on the Leopard instead.

The speed at which builds like this get done in amazes me. When it's what one does on a consistent basis I'm sure there's a pattern that's developed in the building process though. Looks good.

Calling the F-5B done! The final night was interesting, including removing and reinstalling the landing gear because I'd put the struts in wrong (oops!). Stay tuned for more final pics and a writeup in a future issue of Model Aircraft!

Even if it's less than a perfect kit it builds up dang nice. Just read the Zulu article last night. I'll be looking forward to this one as well. Glad someone noticed the struts!

You nailed it with the paint job! You know I am not into wingy builds but I enjoy your posts here. It is always a pleasure having you around...

We've all had those 'whoops' moments like the struts...glad to see I'm not alone! Glad you caught it although it does make you wonder how many others would've noticed sooner or later. Awesome finish as usual on this one Doogs.

What a killer build! At least you caught the strut issue. Say, you gonna have this thing out on the tables at the Austin show on 10 October ?

Yeah the Austin contest is in October and San Antonio is February. Only two I can reliably make it to.

I love the way you've set off the the various inspection and access panels on the tip tanks and along the fuselage. Sometimes these details tend to be hidden among the preshading.
It's a beautiful bit of work there, Doogs! And done very, very quickly by any standard.

This looks awesome. I think you did a great job replicating the 1:1 plane. Nice details.
