Armorcon is now only 2 months away. Whos going and what are you planning on bringing? Both days?
I myself plan on being there both days ( PLAN being the operative word) and I MIGHT actually bring a kit for judging this year.

So far I'm out for this one. Until they reconsider their model-room-closed-for-judging idea from last year, I'll most likely stay away. Of course, it doesn't help that that show is by far the farthest away from here. Talk about a late night haul!

dupes wasnt that just for the Dioramas ? I sat in on a judging table and I am pretty sure they just closed the viewing area for a short time to judge the dioramas so that no accidents occurred.

Oh no...don't I wish. They closed the room for almost three hours. I got exactly zero pics of builds from that show because of it! There were several groups of people who paid to get in to see models - and were told they couldn't. Big arguments to get their money back as what did they come for then? By the time they finally opened the room back up around 4:00 everyone just packed up their stuff and got ready to leave. VERY disappointing.

Well it's a shame we won't see you guys (Mar, Boyd and Marc) at the show. Always a good "local" show to get together at. Understandable on the travel Dupes...not much close to you at all to begin with!

Dupes et al, Well you are in luck. You weren't the only one upset with the fact that the model room was closed last year (from what I hear, there was a lot of people who were upset). That was my call and I am truly sorry for that one. However, the staff discussed this and we will be keeping the doors open during the entire time of the event. Now, this does have on caveat: we will need your (the attending public) help. It goes like this: when we have judges working on a particular section (primarily dioramas and vignettes), I ask that you give the judges room to work and not "hover" over them. Also, we will be changing the way the models will be displayed. Models will be placed on the tables PRIOR TO and AFTER being judged. So, if you see a model on a tray on the table, it hasn't been judged yet (don't worry we will get to it). This allows for the maximum number of models to be viewed at anyone time. Just wanted to give everyone an update. Regards, Georg Eyerman Chief Judge, Armorcon

I ask that you give the judges room to work and not "hover" over them. I judge at several different IPMS shows each year Georg - with the odd exception here and there I've never run into any issues. While not exactly getting a "wide berth" I think most people (at least modelers) understand that there's a job to be done. Maximizing exposure to the builds by adding the "before" phase as well seems like a great idea to me!

Dupes, I haven't seen that too often, either at IPMS, AMPS or independent shows. HOWEVER, it's one of those things that needs to be said, for everyone's sake. Hope to see you in September? Regards, Georg

Is the judging going to be done in the display room or with the models on the tray be brought out to the individual judging table outside the display room a before?

Marc, The revised plan is to put the models out on the tables with trays under them before being judged. The runners will truck the models from the display room to the judging "pit" (figurative, not actual) and when the model has been judged, it will be returned to the model room. At that point, the model will be slid off of the tray and left in the display room. So it's a win-win. The visiting public will be able to see just about every model in the show at any given point (except for those being judged) and we won't have potenetially shaky shelves in the judges area. Regards, Georg

AAAANNND it has the added benefit for the judges too!!!! Wont be looking at that shelf full of models realizing we have a LONG way to go !! LOL ! (for those of us who do, it can be daunting to look up from a particularly well built kit and see 25 other just waiting to be oogled , I mean judged LOL )

I will be there both days. I'll be judging, runner and helping out at the club table. I'm planning on having quite a number of 1/72 & 1/35 kits for sale at the club table along with some PE sets and turned barrels. A few 1/48 kits too. If anyone is looking for anything in particular, let me know and I'll see if I have it. I'm selling off most of deceased club member's stash.
