I started this a few days ago. I know there are better M-24 kits, but since I had the update sets why not go old school? So........ The kit Verlinden update Metal tracks Wheels and tracks....metal tracks. First step to make this track a WW II Chaffee is to remove the dozier mounts on the front plate. Off and running. Terry

I'm using the Verlinden update for this kit and it calls for the radiator grills to be replaced. So I got out the handy dandy scriber and cut them out. Put in the resin replacement part. Attached upper hull to the lower. Attached the new grills. Taking shape

Very cool! I'll be following this one, for sure. My first experience of Verlinden resin wasn't a happy one: on my first tank build (Tammy's KV-1) I was going to use their engine deck, only to find it was over a millimetre too small all the way round ...after I had cut out the kit part. I ended up putting the kit part back in and binning the resin...

It was only my second model after getting back into the hobby, and knew even less than I do now Well sometimes the parts are bad and that's why I kinda shy away from full blown conversons. Those things always sound cool, but turn into major problems and wind up not completed.

Those things always sound cool, but turn into major problems and wind up not completed. Tell me about it - this one was supposed to include an engine, that turned out to be only half an engine - and I use the term loosely: it was just a couple of blocks that looked like Lego bricks with the knobs filed off - could've done the same myself for a lot less $. When I contacted Verlinden about it they replied 'our customers like to do additional work' - Yeah right...Triumph bosses said something similar just before reliable Japanese motorcycles came on the market and they found out they were wrong - their customers just didn't have a choice before

Nothing wrong with throwing the kitchen sink at a build, pulling up a chair!

It's often more fun to roll an old turd of a kit in glitter (you can't polish one ) than working on a state-of-the-art kit, I find. More fun to watch too!

Bet the crews had to get along well in those tight quarters! I feel sorry for the poor gunner/loader.
