Glad to hear it wasn't more serious Dave! Don't worry about the gray hairs...it's part of having a daughter, it's inevitable!

Good afternoon Tojo72, Thank you very much. Oh, It's busy all right. The initial priming makes me look like I'm having fits. Good afternoon Wes, Thank you kindly. Good afternoon Bill, She had surgery two days ago. They placed a plate and screws. Too unstable for just a splint or wires. I hear ya, I have three daughters. In-between Elly napping and my catching some winks when I can, I have gotten a bit done at the bench. The road wheels were roughed up using a Dremel bit and, then sanded down. The rough sanding marks you see are from the coarse sanding stick to get the show room fresh raised detail off the wheels. They have since been smoothed down a bit. I hit the contact surfaces of the idlers with a graphite stick and, smudging sticks. Those are what you see in the right lower corner of the pic. The tracks were painted with Vallejo German Black Brown. It was thinned down with Vallejo thinner and, went through the airbrush just fine. The dusting was done with Tamiy Buff. This was thinned way down and shot at low pressure... 10-12psi. The tracks will get a bit more weathering. Due to all of the handling that remains to be done, I decided to finish it up later. While waiting for the tracks to firm up yesterday, I decided to start priming the turret. I'll need to look at it with fresh eyes as there are many angles to spray from. Not sure it I got them all.

Bummer 'bout daughter, great she'll be OK. These are pretty difficult to get an even coat of paint on; I just mist it on from a distance and keep turning the target. It took me about an hour to basecoat my current project. Lookin fine

Good morning everyone. Leon Thank you kindly. She's resting well and on the mend. Last night was the first that I got more than two hours sleep in a few nights. I tell ya, it's like hitting the lottery. There's just a few more odds and ends, then paint....well primer at least. Bill I left the turret alone last evening. Instead, I worked on the external fuel tanks. Oh boy! I keep trying to requisition some extra eye balls, but keep getting declined. Something about needing to take care of that which I have...or some nonsense. Mark Thank you kindly. If anyone will know about the nuances of painting a tank festooned with ERA blocks it would be you my good man. Thank you for the heads up. The three tone camo I had figured may take a while and, after a trial run with primer, I realized it will take even longer. No hurries. The time of building is drawing to a close shortly. Just a few odds and ends left. Last night I worked on the fender boxes and external fuel tanks. The tank are plumbed!!!. The fuel lines are molded separately from the tanks themselves but, it has fuel lines. The lines are on fine attachment points and, with care they come free quite nicely. For this I would highly recommend a fine razor saw. After freeing them, a light swipe from a fresh #11 blade will clean any remaining greeblies off. Takom even engineered the kit to have the brackets that hold the fuel tanks down. The ends of these dovetail nicely into the PE fender supports. There are a lot of things like that with this kit, where if you assemble it as per instructions, it will fit. The commanders MG is nearly complete. It still needs its ammo can and PE rear sight. I wanted everything to fully set up before attaching those parts. The only thing I did the the MG was drill out the muzzle. As you can see the tow cables are mounted. The kit supplies you with a section of twisted wire about 230mm in length. Thus giving you two 115mm tow cables. I found that I needed a bit less than 110mm. I trimmed the cables to fit. Likely not to scale length but, they won't be springing up at odd angles. Especially on the front. Dave

Good morning everyone Leon It's getting there. So, very close. Bill The flexible couplings on the fuel line actually have the most wee hose clamp detail moulded. Now I can't tell if the threading for the clamp is the proper scale pitch but, the line is there. I think I'm going to ask one of the neurosurgeons if I can borrow their Zeiss optics for a bit.

Look at that...missed a few days and BANG, painting is underway!! Looking good by the way! That turret is off the chain! Love the detail! I am sure it will pose its challenges when it comes to adding color...but well worth it in the end! Keep up the great work!

Good evening y'all Andy You can have a turn after me...provided there's any ammo left...After the week that just ended and, the s**t storm coming down the pike for this week....Ugh! A few things helping me keep it together....Martial Arts, riding' the Harley, and bench time. I just found out that there is a grappling seminar here in town being taught by Colby "Chaos" Covington UFC fighter....I'm signing up! Sorry for the rant.... TRM That's how nicely this beastie is going together. I got a marathon session in today. Vallejo primers were used. For the low and mid sections I used black. For the upper I used grey. The intermediate sections received a misting of grey over the black. I used grey on the uppers due to the first color going down will be Sand Yellow. We all know how well yellow bases cover black primer...I just do not have that kind of time. The rear fuel drums and commanders hatch with MG have been primed separately. I am thinking of using some artistic license and making on of the drums off color and weathered to heck...they needed another one and this was all that was left laying around. I got a rust set I've been dying to try. I also have a Tamyia T-55 in the stash and after building this one, I am thinking of using it for a burnt out setting. Dave

I heard that! Burn the next one!! Painting is looking tops Dave! Yellowish colors are tough to cover the black. I tend to use this to an advantage with shading...but the light-high approach is just as effective I found too. Fine idea adding some contrast with the tanks! A little eye candy never hurts!

Looking the dog's danglies Dave! Thank you for this mornings laugh. I'm gonna need it today. TRM I was eyeballing the sand yellow I laid down the other night and, I kept thinking to myself, "Why does that not look right?". The color pattern should be far more complex. Then I looked at the color plate.....I was going off the wrong one. As it turns out, yes, you can be to tired to paint. At least all I need to do to correct it is add more sand yellow. Doh!

Ah man that looks sweet. Can someone explain all the blocks on the turret and sides? Is it some sort of armour?

Good afternoon everyone. jpc1968 Thank you very much. Wes Thank you for having a gander and, for the compliment. All of the blocks are additional armor. They are often referred to as ERA. Explosive Reaction Armor. The blocks will detonate when impacted by and incoming round. This dissipates the force, often a shaped charge, from penetrating the armor. Shaped charges must detonate against the surface of the armor to penetrate. These blocks will keep the focal point of the shaped charge away from the surface of the armor.

Good morning y'all Dierk Thank you. Me too as it is not headed for a cliff! Leon Thank you kindly. I should be able to knock out the hull today. Bill Thank you my good man. The two tone priming helped far more with the base coats than I thought it would. Tojo72 Thank you buddy. This was a first with two tone priming and, using poster tac for masking the sand yellow. I am happy with it.

The hull has received its camo and side skirts today. I decided to get a pic of the masking used on the sand yellow. It really is pretty easy and just about makes irregular surfaces a non issue. All the colors are down. Sporting the turret. Still have yet to finish the commanders hatch and MG. Now properly dressed with skirts. One of the two fuel drums. This was painted to match the camo. The other..... The other drum... this was painted using Vallejo Rust Effects Kit. Dry fitting of the drums. I wanted to play around with one of the drums a bit. The back story is that the other drum was repurposed, damaged, misplaced, lost....this was the only one not being used in the depot. So, the crew went with what they had.

Love it. Love the rusted drum also and the back story of it. Tank crew made a pit stop to refuel the tank, then they all had to make a "pit stop" themselves and forgot it. "I thought you had it" "No, I thought you put it back"
