Nice. I am on a serious Sherman/Sherman based kick right now. Will enjoy watching this one unfold.

That#s a nice looking kit there!! There's something about Fireflies that I really like - the long barrel seems to transform it in an odd way!
Looking forward to seeing this coming together!!

I put aside the actual vehicle to work on the tracks and these guys. I'm not sure if the 101st ever rode into combat on Fireflys, but I really liked the set and don't have any regular Sherman's in the stash,I think it will still look cool, and any self respecting Sherman needs a little stowage.

Now that is a serious amount of stowage!! The riders also look great too! As for historical accuracy, I wouldn't worry too much. I think a little licence is allowed if your not trying to recreate a specific historical scenario.

Anthony, I like the idea for the model and the figures will really complement it. I believe late in the war a firefly was routinely assigned to a regular Sherman tank platoon to give it some added tank killing ability against the German heavy armor so I can see some airborne troops catching a ride. Can't wait to see it completed.

I believe late in the war a firefly was routinely assigned to a regular Sherman tank platoon to give it some added tank killing ability against the German heavy armor so I can see some airborne troops catching a ride. Hi Gil Yes, you are are correct. There were four tanks per troop, four troops +3 HQ tanks per squadron in the British Army. I believe that the standard practice was 1 Firefly and 3 standard Shermans (Cromwells in 7th AD) per troop, as you say to help tackle the heavier German AFVs. I've also read that the ratio went from 1:3 to 2:2 in some units as the war progressed and the supply of Fireflies increased but I've not carried out any in depth research to verify this fact. However, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the original intention had been to group all the Fireflies in a single troop with the 3 remaining troops consisting of standard Shermans, and I have read one account where this actually seems to have happened in one unit, if only for a time. Andrew Anthony Firstly, apologies for hijacking your post! It's probably a bit late now but I was wondering if you had considered doing the white countershaded barrel that was sometimes used to help disguise the barrel and make the Firefly less of a target for the Germans? There are some links below if you've not come across it before. ATB Andrew www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/gb/Sherman_Firefly.phpweb.inter.nl.net/users/spoelstra/g104/firefly-cam.htm

Freaking awesome Firefly! Really nice job.
Would you mind talking about the painting? What brand/mix did you use for your olive drab, it looks really good to me.
I also like the low key weathering.

I also like the low key weathering. thank you everyone, just feel need to practice my faces. I used Vallejo 70892 as the base OD.I filtered it with Mig Brown for Olive Green.I used some AK Streaking, and some light color pigments on the lower hull and tracks.
