Fantastic work. Really like all the little details.
My humble opinion - I think it would look better with the sides of the base painted solid black below the red area. Those squiggly black lines tend to draw attention away from the model ?? Maybe it is just me. No criticism intended.

...Those squiggly black lines tend to draw attention away from the model ?? Maybe it is just me. No criticism intended. Hmm. I wouldn't have thought of that. In doing research I found a few interviews with directors of the film. This planet Crait is meant to be important to the story and possesses some unusual geology which makes it of use to both sides in the conflict. So in building the scene I wanted to try to at least offer some reason as to how the planet might work.

The model is fantastic - particularly in the level of detail. I think when we build things, especially researched projects, we often gather a lot of information on the subject. So we become more knowledgeable on the topic than most of the people who will see it. The average viewer will be very busy admiring the model itself and not thinking so much about the story, if at all. . But you are correct - the idea of a diorama is to tell a story.

Wow. Your work always amazes me.
Love the build, love the scene.
For what it is worth, I didn't notice the red or the black until I took a more detailed look of the dio. Initially, my eyes were only on the build, so for me, theyare not a big distraction. But that's just one opinion.
But man...what fantastic work you do!

Outstanding job buddy. You know, I will be adding this to the huge scifi diorama gallery on Facebook, right?
