I was working on the Italeri M-24 offering when I fumbled a quart of paint thinner, guess where it landed. Naturally the model did not survive the experience but I wanted one of these in the collection. Since I was not overly impressed with the Italeri kit I decided to pony up the extra squeeze for this 008 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Lots of parts and excellent molding, articulating suspension, metal barrel, and a hull so thin I ended up sticking on the rear plate and final drive housings just to give it some extra strength before further handling. Could be a fussy little thing but time will tell Regards, Mark

Nice! I think 'fussy' is the default setting for AFV Club kits

Welcome gents
Dierk you'd be right about that the articulated suspension has already gone out the window due to fussiness, bad fit, and poor engineering
Regards, Mark

The reason the suspension will not be articulating in photos. Note the key part on the arm shaft and the shape of the mounting hole in the hull 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr This is what happens when the arms are installed to engage the larger part of the hole 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Whoops AFV Club Oddly enough the right side was molded correctly so at least I know the proper attitude to fix the left side. I shaved the key off the shafts on the errant side 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr And they are now installed matching the other side at the correct angle. Parts for one set of roadwheels 004 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Major turret parts assembled 005 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr This, as long as I don't reach for the thinner can again or otherwise bungle it, will still build into a good looking model. In spite of this I can't help but be somewhat hacked off at AFV Club for their dumbass error with the suspension considering the kit has an MSRP of $65.00. It also has me somewhat uneasy over the M-60A1 and M-60A2 I have in the stash by this manufacturer Regards, Mark

One can probably guess I had to open a new bottle of paint on the turret Regards, Mark Yes, one can Looking good, though. Well done for sorting out the suspenders!

Thank you sir Have not been spending much time at the bench lately but have gotten this far 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Needs a goodish amount of work yet but it's been so nice after a fairly nasty winter I'm outdoors a lot these days. This will probably change when it gets to be 100 degrees or so in August Regards, Mark

Making good progress Mark, I hear you on wanting to take advantage of the summertime...for me it's the reverse though as we've already got 105 degree daytime temps!

Thanks gents Bill I'd have to stay indoors 24/7 under such conditions Figured it was time I got off my hind end (or sit on it for awhile) and finish this. Turned out thus 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 004 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 006 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 005 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Perhaps now I'll get back to the M-12/30 project. Perhaps I'll start another one. Been so long since I looked in the stash I can't remember what's in it for sure Regards, Mark

you know I really like your diorama. Not overly complex, and projects the M24 as the principal part. By the way the tank turned out very well! gary

Nice to see this one cross the finish line Mark! Better take a quick inventory, you never know what might be hiding in the stacks.

Thank you gents
OJ the trees came from a place in Pennsylvania called Scenic Express and they are called supertrees. I'm given to understand they are some sort of sub arctic plant they find in Scandinavia but I'm not over sure. All I need to know is they are easy to work with and look the part
Regards, Mark
