This just landed on my doorstep today: Now, does anyone make a 1/48 M-21 mother ship? A 1/48 B-52H? Ha ha, just kidding. If I am not mistaken, this kit represents the D-21 as tested on the M-21 (A-12) carrier. As such, it has the dorsal mounting pylon included in the kit. The D-21B that launched from the B-52 had a larger fin, I think, plus the twin probes on the forward chines. It also used a rocket booster that was longer than itself!

Tcoat and Silverado - My excuse is that the kit is a D-21, not a D-21B, which is variant carried by the B-52. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. But dang, that pic of the D-21B on an M-21 ROCKS! Nuts, there is a Revell SR-71 at my LHS... Deafpanzer - That is "cross contamination" at work.

I checked few online retailers and I couldn't find it. Where did you buy it? Also, do I have to make some changes to my SR-71 by Revell if I want to use that drone too?

I checked few online retailers and I couldn't find it. Where did you buy it? Also, do I have to make some changes to my SR-71 by Revell if I want to use that drone too? I ordered it direct from the manufacturer (Clearprop! Models). Including shipping, it came out to an even $50. Kinds pricey for a small model, but it is definitely NOT limited run molding technology, plus it comes with a handling trolley and the pylon for the A-12. And it also had separate chines with the probes for the D-21B version, marked "not for use". I'm not an A-12 expert by any account, but I think that the tail cone is flush with the elevons, like the YF-12A. The chines around the forward fuselage are pointier than the SR-71, and I think I read somewhere that the canopy shape is flatter. The A-11 was a single seater, but the A-12 added a second crew member to handle the D-21. Not sure if the refueling receptacle was in the same place, and I'm pretty sure the camera ports and Q-bay are completely different or absent.
