Oh they had to be. Those skinny little tires. Terrible track surfaces. High speeds for the time with your head sticking out above everything. Just wild. Luck probably played as big a role as skill did. Those guys must have been fearless! No doubt about it!! Skill and luck both still playa factor in winning for sure. But surviving? At least just as much luck, if not more in those days

Kyle, I love your Indy car collection! 🤩 You do such great work on those cars man, I am extremely impressed! I wish I thought I could pull off work like yours. I have the utmost respect for you car model builders. Thanks for sharing those and I look forward to seeing more soon! 👍

Thanks so much! The wheels are fantastic! It’s a small world because I know Fernando. I tried to purchase body shells from him to make slot cars and I’m afraid I may have offended him. He’s a wonderful artist as well! Thanks so much! The wheels are fantastic! It’s a small world because I know Fernando. I tried to purchase body shells from him to make slot cars and I’m afraid I may have offended him. He’s a wonderful artist as well! Fernando is incredibly talented. I have one of his kits and have used his wheels multiple times. Perhaps all artists are a bit touchy about their art? Communication isn’t always smooth with him either but I put it down to his English not being his main language. At any rate he is a wonderful artist as you say. I've done a little business with Fernando Pinto too. Several years ago, in a moment of questionable judgement, I bought two of his 1/24 resin auto kits. Oh man, I was unprepared for what I got; having never even seen a resin kit before, I was surprised by the many parts I couldn't identify and the instructions left me just as confused after reading them. The Ferrari is the most perplexing and confusing of the two; I have actually even considered starting the fantastic Auto Union model but still haven't so far. Here's an old photo of the two kit boxes:

Wonderful kits, Gary! I don’t want to miss seeing a glimpse inside the boxes as I’m not sure these are still in production. Fernando illustrated the covers! A wonderful draftsmen! I think his response to me was simply a hard “no” to someone asking him for spare parts. His kits are meant to be complete builds. I did point out he included “slot cars” on his company banner, though, so that may have been a bit too cheeky. He dropped me on Fb afterwards. I still follow him and enjoy looking at his company’s projects.

His details are incredible. His instructions though. Yikes. Vague, basically useless and sometimes downright confusing. I have his DePalma indy winner to build at some point but am going to have to be in the mood. Cool kits you have there! Wonderful kits, Gary! They’re gorgeous and I sure don’t want to wire my own. I for sure don’t want any more of his kits though…until he pops out another Indy car that no one has done. 🤣 He doesn’t always have or maybe doesn’t want to make what people ask for, I do know that. But man, those wheels are beautiful.
